Any non US baseball fans here ?
Hi,
I've seen some nicknames on this forum which hint towards people not being in the US, or at least not living there at this time. I am wondering if there are also folks here that, regardless of where they live right now, were actually a baseball fan while living in another country where it might not be amongst the most popular of sports.
Myself, as example: I moved from The Netherlands to Orange county last year. I've been a baseball fan as long as I can remember, but in general, baseball is not a very popular sport in my home country. I have, however, played it since I was about 5 or 6 for one of the Dutch teams and continued to do so for several years.
I remember when I got digital cable back in the Netherlands several years ago and I finally got "NASN" (North American Sports Network) and was finally able to see some MLB games. I didn't even have a specific team to root for at the time (they were all "new" to me :-)) but boy was I happy.
Thanks!

UK here
As my name suggests, I’m a fan from the UK – I currently live and work near Oxford. I started getting interested in baseball when I went to California in 1998 and we went to see an Angels game with some friends who went pretty regularly – we sat in the LF seats and were playing the White Sox, but I don’t remember anything else about the game. I then didn’t pay much attention to the sport until 2004, when for some reason I started checking mlb.com and watching games. Now I love it, most evenings I’ll watch whatever is on mlb.tv in the evening, and I even play for a team based about 15 miles from me – I play shortstop and pitch a bit too.
My girlfriend and I are visiting Southern Cal for 10 days the weekend after next, and we’re hoping to take in 6 or so Angels games, can’t wait!
Be careful Matt...
...I went over last summer for 2 weeks and the 3 games we managed was approaching the divorce / dump threshold.

from the Taiwanese league? I want to piss off the Party Leaders in Beijing.
At your local TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office)
in lieu of embassies, they have this type of setup here in the US. Not sure when that came about, but I had to go to one once. Maybe Yeti can fill you in.
