Light up the Daylight!
Panther of the Game: Jon Garland
3 H in 8 IP against a warm / hot Orioles team. Frankie for the Save, Aybar with the D, Willits and Figgins bringing back pleasant memories of the 2007 speed offenders.

Not really, the first seven innings were kinda frustrating.
Angels grounding out on the first pitch. You know the drill.

This team has an interesting feel to them
They’re a lot like the 2002 team in that they tend to get going late.

People here said that of the 07 team
just sayin..
Frankie looks good again, and for that, I’m happy. Until the bats get goin again it should be enough to score 1 more than the opponent.

was that really "bitching and moaning?"
I didn’t think it was negative. I thought we called it like it was…GA is horrible right now…Vlad got the day off (well needed)...Figgins and Reggie manufactured…HGH was in the wrong spot in the order…we won despite his efforts…Judy was MONEY…1st base ump ripped off Wood…Kotchman needs a day off, he looks tired…KRod looked good…
I saw two things I have NEVER seen in baseball. One last night and one today:
- Yesterday, Hunter stole 2b from STANDING ON on 1b when the P was on the mound, 2b was turned around...SS wasn't looking, and did not even draw a throw! I have seen delayed steals plenty of times, but there was a great replay on the Orioles broadcast that showed the whole thing....phenomenal!
- The bunt single by Eybar past the pitcher to the pitching hand side of a RHP...ie towards SS...

the B&M is in general terms
go back and read a thread about a game that was mediocre until the 7th and things perked up.
Schizophrenic comes to mind! ;-)

I didn't think of it from those terms!
Interesting perspective I bet! I have never gone back and re-read a thread after a game is over…I will try that sometime!

when I miss a game
I’ll come back here and read.
This is the way it goes:
wooohooo…let’s go
damn
well shit, why did Scioscia let __ do that?
Yes, that’s what I’m talking about!!!! Way to go__
YES..nice one..let’s see some runs now
Gimme a break…Hatcher sucks. why did they swing at the first pitch
Well shit, it’s over now. Done. Damn Scioscia and his micromanaging
Screw Scioscia and his small ball mentality
Great play…let’s hope it continues
Why the hell is he letting __ bat?
YES..another one!!
ALL RIGHT…another run!
Christ almighty…pull the pitcher
AHEAD of the game..about time…come on let’s go!!
RALLY TIME!!
Another win for the Halos…I knew they could do it.
Scioscia is the best damn manager in the MLB

Hey! This is MUCH better than the old days.
Back then, everybody bitched and moaned about their SECOND favorite team’s chances to win games and penants and titles, and then climbed into their car to go sit and support the futile efforts of their FIRST favorite team, our Angels.

I will say this...
winning made watching the whole thing VERY satisfying!
Last night, Rivera’s AB ruined watching the entire thing!
I have 2 words for today! WOO HOO! :)

Shutout from TV coverage...........but props to Garland.
Wish I could have watched this one. Major congrats to Garland and his 8 innings of bullpen saving work. Man….........how did he give up only 3 hits? Not that I’m complaining.

I'd go with lukewarm
And the 10 day forecast is snow.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Am I the only person that has an irrational love of seeing
Willits in the lineup? Now if Kendrick’s leg would stop being problematic, we’d really be in business.

the best part of gameday threads
when the players that are most hated get even more hate when they contribute to something good happening. today’s example: GMJ’s play with Figgy making a great play at the plate.

whenever Izturis does something productive I get pissed because it means I have to see him play more.

Izturis is actually a fairly productive hitter. He may have had a bad start this year, but he hits for average and takes a decent amount of walks.

HGH did not contribute to Figgins' play...except to say he caused it...
Infield in and he hits a gb right at the 2b? Exactly what you do NOT want to do! Not something good! That play was ALL Figgins! He essentially stole home! Lemonade from lemons! Please explain to me how HGH did something good on that play…he didn’t strike out???

yeah, he didn't strike out
or hit a line drive to 3rd for a DP. he put the ball in play and figgy did what he does best. how often does the bang-bang play work? i’m not giving GMJ props AT ALL for this as this was all figgy. i’m just showing that the hate for players (for your own team no less) is comical. K3 and many others hate GMJ, GA and Sciosc and no matter what they do that may help us score or win a game, they cant win with their own fans. detroit game on espn, sciosc is getting props and people here are ripping that. to each his own right?

Well, he would have gotten the same props for a deep sac fly.
That’s not striking out or popping up to the infield, etiher. He gets props for getting the job done, even though the method he stumbled into is not as testosterone laden as a drive to the warning track.
Statistically, it’s the same play. Too bad for us that our lyin’ eyes have us convinced that he got just lucky enough, to get the ball just deep enough in the infield, to delay the ball’s return to the plate just barely long enough, to allow the speedy Figgins to just barely beat the throw with a brilliant slide.

and another thing
i’m not the extreme optimist. i think GA is killing us with his slump. i think Sciosc makes questionable decisions with the hook and not letting his starters finish if they’re going strong. and i do question why Quinlan is still up here. GMJ should not be where he is in the order.
can’t wait ‘til this squad is 100%. Garland was 2005 Garland today.
