Figgins injured
Since nobody has made a post about this yet, I figured id make a space for it.
Apparently the Angels have done something to piss off the hamstring gods because Figgins is the latest to go down with a hamstring injury. Had MRI's after the game and didnt comment. Scoscia says he felt a pull when he was scoring the last run and that they wont know how serious it is until tomorow.
Sounds painfully familiar to Howie's pull(which has cost him...2 weeks so far)
So, Id imagine we can get used to alot of Wood and Quinlan BOTH in lineup until Howie is at least back.
These injuries are out of control. We need a better conditioning coach!

the exact quote
Figgins left the game after scoring the Angels’ third run, sliding home safely, but awkwardly, on a fielder’s choice when he beat third baseman Mora’s throw following a soft ground ball by Matthews.
The slide resulted in an injury to Figgins’ right hamstring muscle, which tightened up on him when he returned to the dugout.
“He said it cramped up, like there was a knot or something in there,” Scioscia said.
Figgins was unavailable following the game.
“We’ll have to get [the injury] evaluated by the doctors,” Scioscia said. “With the hamstring, you’re always concerned.”

Willits becomes all the more important
I smell a DFA for Rivera and if Izzy/Howie are hurt much longer just bring up S-Rod … anything but Quinny Land.

Quinny Land:
Population: 30 LOB
Elevation: Somewhere south of .200

Yeah
Rivera: .194 OBP .167 AVG 1 RBI in 30 ABs
THATS WHAT WE NEED ON THIS TEAM BABY
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....

In 2006, Rivera in 35 April ABs: .229/.289/.429; 64 May ABs: .234/.290/.406
But he went nuts in July: 110 ABs, .364/.400/.778
For his career, Juan has put up strong 2nd half numbers.
.318/.366/.504 (853 ABs)
He always sucks in April and May.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

Any move that results in Quinaln occupying a roster spot is inexcusable.

Please don't say it is so....
With Soxh’s pocket lady line up sheet; pretty soon Von Hayes will be playing RF to keep the clubhouse happy.

Poop
Was worried about this when I saw Figgins came out early.
No way Q would play 3rd against a RHP. Isn’t Mice Tits about to come back?

He's not THAT bad...
I dont think Quinlan is as bad as commentated about. i mean he’s not that great, but he’s not BAD.

"He said it cramped up, like there was a knot or something in there"
Doesn’t sound like something a trip to Burke Williams can’t cure.

On this team, injuries are an opportunity
Injuries allowed Kendrick to get his first 200 MLB at bats in 2006. Injuries got Kendry Morales crucial MLB development time. They have cemented Aybar’s status as an every day player, are giving Brandon Wood his first crucial chunk of playing time. and allowing Adenhart to get the willies out of his system at the highest level at age 21.
At this stage, deep as we are, I’m almost rooting for minor, non-chronic injuries, just so none of our developing players are overly blocked. Think of it—because of injuries, there will never be another doubt about whether Santana or Saunders should be in the bullpen, and the two of them will likely stay in the rotation for several years to come.
We’ve got the best record in the AL right now, even being totally silly with injuries. It’s a great team.

Willits
We really need Willits leading off everyday now, until Figgy is back. But if he does then Matthews or Anderson has to sit on the bench. I would welcome that, especially Anderson as he’s pretty much useless right now. Poor Juan Rivera, not much opportunity for him.
What I’d do is play an Outfield of Willits, Hunter, and Rivera, Matthews as 4th OF, and Vlad as DH. And see if Anderson can be the highest paid minor league manager in history. Or maybe fire Steve Physioc and put him in the booth.
