Figgins Injury Update
Today the LA times reported that Figgins will not need to go on the DL. His MRI showed just a mild strain to his right hamstring. According to Chone, the injury was caused by a collision he had with the umpire on his amazing slide at home plate. "If I didn't hit the umpire, we wouldn't be talking about this," Figgins said. "This has happened before. Every time I do that slide, I seem to hit the umpire. It's a freak thing."
Mike Scioscia expects the league to review the play to rule on whether or not the home plate umpire was to close to the play and caused the collision that led to this hamstring injury.

Review the play?
What happens if the league does indeed find that the umpire was too close to the play?

In my view
Of course he was too close. Figgins touched homeplate and he hit the umpire as he went past him The umpire moved too far up to get a better view of the play..

change the umpiring mechanics would be the only thing that could come from that
ie, change positioning etc

Poll response
I love Howie…(preface)...as much or more than the next guy, but frankly I would argue his injury has hurt us the LEAST (this time)!
Here’s why…this forced us out of the platoon situation with Izzy/Eybar and let both play everyday (til Izzy got hurt of course). Eybar has flourished thus far with the full-time PT! Secondly, WTY has NOT been up to the task of matching up with the other team’s #1. I honestly thought he was going to match up better! I had extremely high hopes. Too high.
If Lackey was hurt and Escobar was healthy, I believe Escobar could have matched up with the #1’s capably!
