Hud Dogg and Phys Cogg
I work at Angels Stadium a handful of games a month. My work station is in the TV booth directly behind home plate between the Angesls TV team and the radio team. Because of this my family and their friends often ask me what the heck is going on with the rolling dice approach to the TV color man and commentator combos this season. I know there are contracts that were made up at the start of the season for so and so to do so many games etc but I'm not sure what to tell them.
All of them tell me they prefer Huddler and Physioc for every game. They keep asking me to find Arte and tell him to cut the crap and keep the same guys for every game. I don't even work for the Angels nor the TV stations nor the radio station but they still don't seem to grasp that I have no say in this.
I'm wondering if there are any petitions out there that already exist to ask the Angels to quit the revolving door and make it strictly Huddler and Physioc. Anyone know of such a thing?

Is there a petition
that I could sign to permanently GET RID of Physioc and Hudler?

I prefer
Rory Marcus and Mark Gubicza. Rory is a pro commentator, and Gubie’s insight from an ex-player is far better than Rex’s.

"from an ex-player perspective"
it should have read
"Erstad says he's got it. Erstad makes the catch!..."

My favorite combo has been
Rex and Rory… when Phys was out sick. They make a hell of a team. Hope we go full time with that next year. I might not even mind if it was Rex, Rory AND Phys. Not many 3 man teams out there anymore, but that might be cool.
Willits for ROY! Oh, wait... Um, Kendrick for batting title? Yeah!

that could be pretty interesting
but the radio would suffer.
Smith/Gubi and Smith/Mota? no thanks.
as much as i normally enjoy Phys, i say send him to the radio and let Rory and Rex take it

Anything that keeps...
the Grand Physard out of the booth is fine by me.
Gubi is annoying, but in an endearing way. Rex is annoying in an annoying way.
Rory is excellent beyond my wildest dreams – mainly because I have been listening to Physioc for so long – but he is still first rate.
I still long for Mario Impemba every so often. He was solid. Of course, Bob Starr was really, really good before Impemba came along.
For being a first tier franchise, the Halos have a craptabulous stable of announcers.

Rex and Rory
Chemistry meets Vocabulary.
Phys tonight was monosyllabic “Alex Gordon is really great, the Royals think he is really great.”
Rex has the enthusaism (Gubi is prozac personality)
Rory has the mature pace of a veteran.
my two cents.

Rory Markus Rules
He should be the #1 play-by-play man. Make it a simulcast, as far as I’m concerned. He’s SO much more professional that Phyzz. He tells you what’s actually happening in the game you’re watching. He seems to have good judgment (i.e., he knows when it’s a warning track out). He’s got the proper amount of enthusiasm combined with the dry wit necessary when things aren’t going swimmingly. And most importantly, perhaps, he doesn’t treat his audience like a bunch of three year-olds.

Keep The Hud
He is pure comedic foil, plain and simple—nothing more, nothing less. He is our Vic the Brick, our Tommy Lasorda, our Harry Caray, with a tinge of Jeff Spicoli thrown in for good measure. To expect anything more would be fruitless. Just sit back and enjoy the syntactic butchery.
He ‘aint Grantland Rice or George Will, but we’ll take him!

Hud
should be limited to Angels live and the post game interviews. Putting up with his schtick for an entire game really tests the nerves. If I have to hear one more time about Kotchman having “soft hands” I might claw my eyes out.

Wasn't asking for opinions on whose best...
We express our opinions on these guys all the time on HH…
I just need something to throw at my family and friends to get them off my back about all this. Thus… is there an online petition out there that I could send their way? I guess not. I didn’t want to have to start one considering I don’t mind them trying new broadcasters. Maybe I’ll just send them a link to a page where they can create a petition that they can send around to all their friends…
Literally every time I talk to my family they hound me on this subject.

Poll
there was a poll here, about a week ago, which showed overwhelming support for a broadcast team that excludes Physioc. Markus/Gubi & Markus/Hud garnered about 2/3 of the votes, as I recall.

I absolutely can not stand Gubi and Mota. They are the driest, most monotonous pair of announcers ever. Listening to a ton of games on XM gives me an opportunity to hear what’s out there, and these two are bad. Not Susan Waldman bad, but bad in a whole other way.
I’m fine with Rory or Phys with the Wonder Dog. Both of them call a great game, but I honestly think that Phys and Hud’s personalities mesh better. But like I said, either way.
I’d really like the musical chairs to stop though.

I agree
with Phys and Hud meshing well, but how much of that do you think is from working together for so long?
It seems like Rory and Rex have gotten better the more games they’ve worked together.
Sometimes chemistry takes some time to build.

Agreed
Whenever I hear Gubi or Mota, I wonder how in the world they ever got the job in the first place. They can take an exciting game and make it so boring that you will find watching paint dry on the wall about twice as exciting. I also listen to a ton of games on XM and know what is out there. It ain’t pretty.
I really wish that people would not be down on Phys or Hud. They do make a great team and are really entertaining. Rory is by far my favorite but I like him best on the radio. In fact, he is by far my favorite radio announcer of all time. He has a pace and a style that is truly original and makes the game interesting…even when it shouldn’t be. And Terry and him also compliment each other very well. I guess I took the long way around just to say I hope they don’t change from what it has been over the past several years.

The dryer the announcer Hud is paired with the better.
It makes Hud even more hyper-active, making him pull out the most obscure stories from his past and say ridiculous things to get the excitement going. He drives opposing teams’ fans who have to listen to the feed to the brink, and I love that.

Have your family read these posts in this thread.
Point out to them that their’s are merely one opinion among many, and everybody has a different one. Tell them something lame like “so that is how brilliant Arte is, by mixing things up constantly to give everybody what they want.
