May 9 Angels @ Rays GAME THREAD
Los Angeles Angels at Tampa Bay Rays, May 9, 2008 4:10 PM PDT
Hit it in the fish tank for Izzy, Figgy and Howie...
In the morning the parking tickets were just like flags stuck on my rear screen.

Kotch and Naps are going back to back HRs today
Then Wood and Srod will do it…..in the later innings.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like this prediction!
I'm not superstitious, but I'm a little stitious.

Lovely catch by Rodriquez, Lovely
Good thing he has family there cheering for him.
Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"
Anybody getting the Angels TV broadcast?
What’s the latest word on HK and Figgy?
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
All I heard is Wednesday is going to be "Happy Lackey Day" at Anahiem Stadium.
Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"
Good. Thanks for the update.

The LA Times almost always has injury updates in the post-game story every night
after the game.
Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"
LOL.......I would do it in a flash but come on Madden aint stupid.
He spent 30something years with us. He knows tallent when he sees it.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cindy Crawford or Special Agent Jack Crawford?
Certainly not THE Crawford.
"The blues is losing someone you love and not having enough money to immerse yourself in drink." (Henry Rollins)
Bad ass catch by the Cat Crawford........I wish he would have dropped it Oh well.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Angels need some Reggie W in the lineup.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Garland got squeezed on the 2-2 pitch. Looked like a strike on the FSN Florida telecast.

His fastball has had good zip. 92, 93 mph.
And the just turned a nice DP.

well if you are going to walk batters
it’s all forgiven if you then get the double play
I'd rather see Willitz in LF
S-Rod looks great defensively.
He’s going to get blocked by Aybar. Trade him for lower level SP and OF prospects.
Willits for ROY! Oh, wait... Um, Kendrick for batting title? Yeah!
I'm going to regret mentioning this but
the fences to straightaway left and right field are just WAY too close.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
And of course the ass clown FSN Florida guys are blaming Aybar.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
HBP right on his pinkie, ring finger, and middle finger / hand.
It made solid contact.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOO freakin Aybar, Why didnt you move your hand?
I hope he is not for a while…..
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now the starting 3B, 2B and SS are all out with injuries.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
Christ, Mike
Put Kotch in the four-hole. He’s the team’s best hitter at the moment.
Witty .sig goes here.
A devil ray stung him and he began to daze into the 1990's when Anderson was clutch.
At that point he began to fill out the lineup card.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope Garland would retaliate
but then I remember he can’t break a pane of glass with his fastball.
Witty .sig goes here.
His fastball is good, 92 sometimes 93. He just doesn't have a good K pitch.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

Retaliate for what?
That wasn’t a beanball. It wasn’t Aybar’s fault like the TB guys were saying, but there’s no reason to go headhunting.
~Till the Halo burns out...
The last thing Angels need is a Richie Sexson moment.

Slightly Above average....he has good range.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You dont have to worry about Dicks D. He has good Defense, I just want to see that 40+ HR Power
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how come our outfielders are the ones not getting hurt
we have two high quality rotting on the bench while we get haveing to dip into triple a to replace our infeliders. what i wouldmn’t do to replace aybar, figgins or howies injury for an injury to GA, GMJ of Q
I'd rather see Willitz in LF
shhhhhhh. careful what you wish for.

Lets turn 2 Kids.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is really killing me how we can never stay healthy no matter what
and it’s always the guys doing well that get nailed. Shea Hillenbrand/Edgardo Alfonzo/Steve Finley types never seem to get hurt.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
SRod with a nifty DP. Made the tag, then tossed to Kotch.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
S-Rod Kicks Ass!!!!!!
NICE PLAY
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
S-Rod
REALLY getting a chance to shine out there.
Willits for ROY! Oh, wait... Um, Kendrick for batting title? Yeah!
My guy was Doubled up in the first DP of the game.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Angels making it way too easy on Shields.
Though he came into the game with a 3.55 ERA in 4 career starts vs. the Halos.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
Atleast Vlad hit it hard. Come on guys.
Naps, time for #9.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Thanks
Always read LL to get perspective. Since making the move your commentary has been really level headed. Appreciate it.
Willits for ROY! Oh, wait... Um, Kendrick for batting title? Yeah!
I've never really understood the hostility between the two sites.
On another forum I used to post on, I got along great with the only M’s fan that posted alot.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
That was a HR swing....Now you just need to make contact.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyword on Aybar? Angels TV or radio will probably announce the X-Ray results when they become available.
The FSN Florida guys are more interested in bingo, potluck dinners, and prune juice.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
What are you talking about?
It’s us. Everybody does that against the Angels unless we’re hitting them to death.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Even for us, 9 pitches an inning is impressive.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Still a lot of fans dressed like empty seats
Guess the name change hasn’t worked out like they thought
Rays have put together a really good team. Too bad the folks in TBay don't show any support.

the problem...
for them is that they play in the AL east, no one there thinks they stand a chance with the red sox and yanks in that division
the future looks bright
The other problem is that there are more Yankee fans in that area than Rays fans.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Heck, half the city has eaten and gone to be by first pitch
They should schedule more day games to attract the seniors.
TIp of the Hat to Garland and the D. Wag of the Finger to the hitters.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
i thought i read somewhere.
that he worked with butcher on some mechanics before that last start. wish i remembered where.
"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"
That's right. They watched his performance in the 2005 ALCS against the Angels.

I missed his start against the O's. He's throwing consistent 92 fastball and mixing in a decent slider.
Was that the case against the O’s?

way up high
there’s a fastball I’m throwing
right at the batter’s eye

Angels will need to hit the long ball tonight.
They won’t be stringing any hits or walks together.

Once again, THANK YOU, STONEMAN!
for the disaster that is GMJ
"The blues is losing someone you love and not having enough money to immerse yourself in drink." (Henry Rollins)
Juan who??? He's still playing?
Who’d be that stupid to land him to a big contract???

Apparently
the Stupid Fairy came to Southern California and hit everybody all in the same offseason.
Witty .sig goes here.
So, who hopes Reggie Willits quickly learns to play 3rd?
On another note, nice play Kotch.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Gotta hand it to Garland, he's looked alot more solid his last 2 outings.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
wtg JUDY G
butch did a good job working with him and big ups to JG for listeningyt
the future looks bright
Need some Reggie W right now. Somebody who gets on base.
Swinging for the fences isn’t doing it. Time for some “Soth” ball. :) Where’s that giant beetle from last Sunday?
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
They must be using a magnetic ball
because everything in the air is hanging up.
Witty .sig goes here.
Yeah, that looked pretty good off the bat.
Atleast we’re getting non-groundballs though.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
WTF is wrong with Vlad?
And how long before people start admitting he’s in a slump?
Witty .sig goes here.
Wow, 14 pitches that inning? We're doing good.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
The word on Aybar? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Something-d-o-o economics. Anyone?
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
so if judy is gonna be pitching good
and lackey is coming back next week, that means that we have 4 good pitchers. and then hopefully WTY goes and works with Butch too.
and then we can stop having our middle infielders getting hurt.
and then we’ll be unstoppable.
"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"
Garland
must be keeping that shoulder in the right spot. Here’s hoping he keeps the mechanics worked out for the rest of the season.
they better...
put up some runs and give ludy a chance at a win with this performance he gave tonite
the future looks bright
OK, good part of the lineup is up.
Hunter, Kotch, Naps, it’s up to you guys, get us a lead.

Seriously? Day to day? I was sure that was a break.

Shit. What are we gonna do? Kendrick back soon, Figgins back soon, S. Rod and Wood … guess we’ll be OK.
Don't call me Desmond
Now, I wasn't that stunned. The thread played the old double-post trick.

That'll start happening when you have 3 starters out
including the two top BA’s on your team last year.
~Till the Halo burns out...
What's that old joke that goes, "You can call me Ray or you can call me.......?"
Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"
Oh man, don't get me going...........
Bill Salaga would come in with his zoot suit and cigar and loudly proclaim,
“Well HELLO there! My name is Raymond J. Johnson Junior”
And then the straight man (David Steinberg back in the mid 70s), would go
“Hi Mr Johnson”
“Aw you doesn’t has ta call me Johnson. You can call me Ray. Or you can call me Jay.
CRAP!!!! I know the whole f**ing routing. I’m stopping now.

Shit
Just got here. Is Shields dealing this much or are we just taking horrible hacks?
Don't call me Desmond
Dammit!
8-pitch leadoff double. Shit!
And Nate Haynes is pinch-running. Desmond needs to trip him up!
Don't call me Desmond
Shields' changeup is God-like
and his control is outstanding. That’s why he’s so tough. Yeah, his fastball doesn’t blow you away (although he can get it up to 94-95 in rare occasions) but he locates it well and that changeup is just so good it more than makes up for it.
www.raysbb.com
Yes, we really do have fans.
God-like?
Wha??
"The blues is losing someone you love and not having enough money to immerse yourself in drink." (Henry Rollins)

Well done Q
I was thinking our best chance was if Q just sat his fat ass on top of Haynes

I'll leave now, and work on my Raymond J Johnson Jr. act.

Well, nothing more Garland can do.
He’s been the man today, whatever previous outings have looked like.

Let's get a run for Judy ...
No matter what anybody says, she was pretty hot in the Wizard of Oz
Don't call me Desmond
I guess for next year we will have to assume it takes Judy a month to find his stride.
Scioscia, "Roll the hole!"
We're not going to sign him back again.
We have too many young pitchers for it to make sense. Adenhart’s not ready yet, but by next year he will be.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Maybe I'll hurt one of their guys then
I can watch from outside my office window anyway. Who do you want me to try to hurt?
Don't call me Desmond
Technically, when Northwest and I step out for smokes ...
... all we really do is hurt ourselves, but I’ll try to take out Shields. Maybe a foul ball will get him in the dugout.
Don't call me Desmond
That was teh suck
Even if Wood had reached, it’s questionable what the #1-2 batters would have done.

take on OPS leader Evan Longoria and the Rays.
Should be something to watch.

Awww well
ladybug’s not in here tonite. We can get away with a little bit more

Just think, if Texas can't hold their lead we'll see Halo Heaven posters
pulling that red handle on the subway cars.
Hardly saw any of the game ...
but their panther certainly was Shields.
Botg has gotta be Speier. You just can’t give up a walk-off to Eva Longoria.
