Bummer

Lose-3_medium

What a bummer of a game this was.  Jeff Mathis showing his command of the plate with 3 strikeouts. Jon Garland being more or less a massacre tonight.  Lastly, Howie getting the third call strike on a ball that was high and outside starting the double play which Macier while running to 2nd saw that it was a ball and pulled up and jogged into 2nd only to be thrown out completing the 4th grade kick ball double play. And yes he was tagged below the waist.

On a positive note, Figgy had a great night getting on base.

Blame of the Game: Jon Garland

oliver is underrated

peolpe may think he stinks but he is a very, very solid setup/pre-setup man/ middle reliever. he’s versatile. if the angels were in dire need, he could start a game too.

Hows this for a trade scenario

nick green and juan rivera for KG Jr.

Here's the pitch to Lofton. Fly ball to center field, Erstad says he's got it, Erstad... makes the catch! And The Anaheim Angels, are the champions of baseball!

the point is getting rid of one

outfielder..(thought we are immediately replacing him) and getting a full time DH who can get a fresh start(for a few years at least in the American league

NO...

Juan Rivera is as good or better than KG Jr at this point in each of their careers.

Why would we ever trade one of our pitching prospects?

This is bad Vlad and his band of wimps!

by K3YEROUT on Jun 14, 2008 2:08 PM PDT up reply actions

thats because Junior is 9 years older than Juan

If you have the arguement that Rivera is just as good as Griffey is right now, even though Junior is almost 40, while Juan is 30… there’s something wrong there.

by the way, did anybody else noticed that Jorge Campillo will be making his return to Angels stadium on Sunday? Should be an interesting matchup between him and Vlad…

The game in question was at The Big A

After Campillo came up and in on Vlad twice, he homered on the next pitch. When he came up to bat after that, Campillo threw at his head again and Vlad dropped his bat and all 6’3” and 235 pounds started toward the mound. Dumbass probably had nightmares for days.

by ReggieBullits on Jun 13, 2008 11:07 PM PDT up reply actions

it was September 20, 2007

Campillo came way up and in on Vlad, so Vlad took it out to dead center on the next pitch.
Next time Vlad came up, Campillo did it again. Vlad dropped his bat and started walking toward him… benches cleard, Lackey pushed some people around, and Campillo got suspended for a few days.
go find it on MLB.com… you can see the highlights.

so yes, there is some history.

On Griffey?

Actually looking at his numbers, we may be better off getting another player: Ichiro. but would he leave seattle. would you give nick green, Bwood, and juan rivera to your division rival?

heres another

as of b4 the game, angel catchers were batting only .204(ahem, Mathis and Napoli) Rod Barajas of toronto is batting .294 with five homers and 21 rbi’s in 42 games. he’s also a local guy, from ontarion. how bout we swap him and juan rivera?

the reason the angels have been so good

is that we don’t jump to trade people who are having slumps. If we followed ur strategy, we would have traded Kendrick, Kotch, Figgins and probably several of our relievers already. Letting players play through their slumps and not jumping to make the instant fix trades is what differentiates us from the Yankees and the Red Sux.

Juan Rivera

We can’t just easily dump an outfielder like Rivera without outright trying to DFA him. It isn’t like other teams are going to pony up a couple of prospects for a guy that hasn’t played much all season long [healthy or not].

On the other hand, a team like the New York Mets probably needs another outfielder with the injuries to Moises Alou and Ryan Church. Rivera would be a great fit and would probably play semi-regularly.

Who would the Mets trade in return? Do they have another Scott Kazmir in the farm system, they don’t know about?

by BBFan1 on Jun 14, 2008 12:17 AM PDT reply actions

Iz it is

hit into dp and fielders choice. Took figgy out of the offense early.

2) whoever was responsible for not intenionally walking the left handed batter that was
2 for 2 and batting against garland (hint: #9 hitter) with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Also, probably the same person that didn’t ph for Mathis (Rivera, anyone), late in the game after kotch flew out. Not naming any names here.

i dont know where else to put this...

it’s a quote from today’s LA Times.

“Instead the Angels’ lineup disappeared once again, making Braves Jo-Jo Reyes look like Johan Santana in a brilliant eight-inning effort in which he gave up one hit after the third inning.”

hahaha… looks like somebody else caught on to what we’ve been saying.

It is Angels luck. We always get weak or so-so pitchers on their best career nights.

Can’t wait to see how their rookie, top prospect, does tonight in his major league debut.
