Interesting Stats
Hey Halo Fans,
Just thought I would show you this. If you click on the link below, you can see all 30 MLB teams record throughout the season compared to their overall payrolls (including players on the DL). If you click on the white box the teams are listed in and then press your arrow keys left or right, you can cycle throughout the season. Tell me what you think of it. Nice toy. Fun to play with, but...
...there feels like there is something missing. I cannot put my finger on it right now. Maybe later. Somehow I get the sense that the proper relationship should be between number of wins and percentage of revenue applied to player payroll. Small market versus large market, etc., or value proposition versus padding owner pockets.
And maybe the rankings should not be in raw wins, but closer aligned with “power rankings”, such as what we see on espn.com, so as to compare investment with the odds of achieving the actual goal of competing in MLB, which is winning the WS, not just the regular season.
