Gary Matthews Jr. is a team leader... he is leading the Angels in FIVE categories at the moment:
PLATE APPEARANCES (289)
GAMES PLAYED (69, tied with Torii Hunter)
TRIPLES (2, tied with Hunter, Anderson and Guerrero)
When the going gets tough, the lousy should get going - it is painfully obvious that Gary Matthews Jr. is the weakest damn link in this organization. It is time for Gary to become a role-player or perhaps super-sub. There is no way he maintains his position as a starter for this club much longer even with Mike Scioscia's notorious Steve-Finley-Veteran-Love. In addition to blocking Reggie Willits AND Juan Rivera, GMJ is masking the awful performance of Garret Anderson by being even worse than Mister Underachiever himself. To think that he has been the Designated Hitter in 13 games this season should offend every baseball sensibility that a good fan has.
Angel offensive woes begin (and practically end) with Gary Matthews Jr.
