Ok. I admit, I am writing this in the heat of the moment, and probably should wait until I've calmed down after that crushing loss. But somebody is going to have to convince me that the "contact play" is a good thing. In tonight's game, Vlad was a sitting duck in that 5th inning debacle. I won't even go into Torii's bonehead baserunning which seems to be his weakest link. 

I was at the game Monday night, and there was a similar botched contact play.

So, who can convince me that the contact play is good? Can one of you Stat Studs come up with something? How often has it worked compared to how often does it fail?
