And the Angels most clutch hitter is...

Maicer Izturis!

There is a great article on FanGraphs.com about how clutch Maicer has been the last two years for the Halos.  According to the article, Maicer has ammased a clutch rating of 1.22, fourth highest in baseball, in only 198 at bats.  Last season he was 19th best in all of baseball which is outstanding for someone who only filled in for injured players.  Considering these statistics, as well as his terrific defense (better than Erick Aybar statistically), does this change your opinion of who should be the every day shortstop for the angels right now (or at least get the majority of starts)?

My opinion is that Aybar is a great short stop, has huge potential, but the angels are not rebuilding-- We want to win now!  With our style of baseball, agressive baserunning with timely hitting, we need players out there who we can count on with 2 outs and RISP.  Aybar surely has the brighter future, but if we want to win now (and I am referring to October not another AL West title) we need "clutchness", and Maicer is Mr. Clutch.

Iz over Aybar. I reserve the right to change my mind. Like them both.

HA HA

Earlier this season I voted for Maicer in the TangoTiger great-clutch-project but I question Tom Tango’s integrity to ever publicly admit being wrong in public (although he is a master of rationalization, so watch him get weasley). If this DIPShit cannot even program the correct name of our team into his commodore 64 and then gets aggro when called out on his retarded lapse, how can we not assume he will skew away from truth, justice and the American (or in Maicer’s case, Venezuelan) way.

That was amusing

He flipped his shit when I told him to fix the name.

Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

I'm going to beat a dead horse to death

but as great as the Boy King has been, we’d have a better player in Kazuo Matsui had we not wasted so much $$$ on stiffs like GMJ, Speier, et al who have all cost us draft picks. We also signed Kendry Morales to a huge signing bonus of which return we have seen nil.

Well said though, I love the Boy King. I’m just not sure he’s durable enough to play SS every day.

Don't call me Desmond

And how does one define Matsui is better?

Given that he A) plays in the NL; B) has only had good years while playing in Colorado; C) is most certainly NOT clutch.

I take Izzy over Kaz every time.

If Maicer could stay healthy for a whole season then he should play SS

...prob is he can’t! Mike has given him every opportunity…all he has proved is that the two make a great platoon! Whoever is healthiest starts! :)

This is BAD Vlad and his band of wimps! (can't change it now, cuz the last time I did...he started sucking again!)
