Saunders and Phillies: 1999 Draft

Saunders says the Phillies offered a $150,000 take-it-or-leave-it signing bonus the day after the 1999 draft. When that offer was rejected, Saunders insists he never heard from the organization again.

Joe tells his side of the story. He explains how he was shafted by the Phillies. I think someone asked what the deal was in Saturday's game thread. Well here it is. Myers was their first round pick and Saunders was their 5th round pick.

Personally I think Joe is better off being an Angel, SLC shuttle aside.

I would think the SLC shuttle days are over

Interesting in the Philly newspaper piece that a reader comments that they “believe the Phillies over this guy anyday.” But why would Joe want to make up such a story?
