Show Scioscia some respect
I think it is total BS that people on this site continue to call Scioscia (soth). He his the Angeles winningest coach including a World Series. Do you think any other coach would have his team in firsat place when there two best pitchers are on the DL there best hitter was batting 250 and every other day another player was placed on the disabled list. I think not. The dude can flat out coach.....so show the guy some fucking respect.
This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

nicknames
i understand what you are saying but i think the nickname is uncool and it seems alot of the people on this site think he is a shit coach
by surfpunk on Jun 23, 2008 3:10 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
a lot?
I would doubt that…
Try creating a fanpost with a poll asking
“Is Mike Scioscia the greatest Angels manager ever?”
giving the other choices, “He’s just OK” and “He sucks.”
I would wager that you would get 95+% in favor of greatest. It’s a no-brainer.

Agreed
The only Soth for me is Lord Soth, Fallen Knight of Solamnia and Death Knight of the Black Rose, he who shattered the great city gate at Palanthas and commanded the undead legion of Takhisis.
Know what I mean?

what else is there to call him
you could call him sosh, but the spellingmakes it look like it should pronounced like soth (and soash or scoisc, just isnt cuttin the butter ).
of course in light of his most recent article we could take new suggestions…
animal style
double double
winningest coach in angels history (too much to type)
soth works, hell its better than what we call GMJ, its even better than what the phillies announcers were calling GMJ during that series last weekend, referring to him as sarge jr.
i pledge alliegance... to mike Scioscia
and the angels way of baseball
and to each pennant and ring we are sure to win.

Lorri ( Now we have a Lorri to Torii)

Isn't a Lorri a TRUCK in England?
Let’s just call him TRUCK then.

Indeed it is - we'd usually spell it 'lorry'...
...but if you’re feeling warm and affectionate, ‘Loth’ works too.

The author of this fanpost needs to chill the F out!
What! The Soth is exempt from a nickname? It’s only a nickname—stupid and inane as it may seem. It’s not as if we all gave him a name like, say, Squinty McClusterfuck?
Mike Scioscia rules—Soth or no Soth.

The 11th Commandment…
"Thou shalt not take Scioscia’s name in vain…"
He is not a tree sloth; not a sloshy drunk; not a member of the White Soxh.
Let us always address him by his FULL last name: S – C – I – O – S – C – I – A.
Peace. Out.

i am on hh alot and today after seeing soth it just got to me. i dont like the nickname i think it is crap
by surfpunk on Jun 23, 2008 5:24 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
here we go, but...
the thing that needs to be retired most is the “lazy GA” crap.
i get the argument that you may not really mean it, yada, yada – or maybe you do but either way it does not reflect well upon this site or the posters who consistently invoke the “GA + lazy” shit.
as most of you know, or at least should, there is a long history of stereotyping african-americans as lazy and as such, even if you are not using it it with that context in mind, it still reeks of racism.
i know that i will probably get a lot of shit for this post – the “PC police” and all that garbage – and that’s sad. i know that most of you will say that i don’t get it – that it is used intentionally as an over the top attempt at humor, or perhaps that you are even using it to mock the stereotype, but it doesnt play that way.
i realize that most of you are just trying to be funny or something but its not. it doesn’t help make this a more inclusive blog and it doesn’t reflect well upon stereotypes of angels fans.
i hope you all will consider putting this one to rest.
thanks for hearing me out.

Wow.
In the 3 years I have been here on HH, and followed/contributed to the ‘GA is lazy’ subject, it never, ever, ever occured to me that this had anything to do with the color of his skin. Usually it had to do with the color of his pants, as in they failed to have any grass stains or dirt stains on them after an entire game of play. And I really wonder what might be wrong with my levels of racial sensitivity for wishing to see GMJ’s defense in LF rather than GA’s cuz, like, BOTH of those guys are african-american.
Sorry, ‘ever’, but I whiffed on this one.

don’t give in to his evil trick. Gotta be one of those Mariner fans who is now suddenly back on-line now that they won a game today.

and can devote as much time discussing this stupid topic as we ought? Meanwhile, over at Lookout Landing, Jeff is doing his best Rev. Jim Jones impersonation, readying all of his faithful for that inevitable mass Kool-Aid taste test.

My fave is how LL has turned their attention to their softball team.
Baseball fans owning the fan site for a major league franchise have now determined to fire up their computer, go online, go to a blog, log on, and chat about their own beer-league participation. The mind boggles.

I am so angry at those people who get on this site and bad mouth soccer. Soccer is a great sport. Our ancestors, the Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon, played the sport. Please people, quit dissing sokker.

Scioscia gets respect -- from a non-lazy GA
In Tim Brown’s article on Yahoo Sports:
"The day they hired him, that’s when things changed," Anderson said. "The attitude changed. How we go about our business changed. How we’re viewed as an organization changed. He played in L.A. They won. They were an arrogant bunch of guys who knew they were going to kick your behind every night. That works in this sport. You hear it enough, you start thinking, ‘I guess we’re going to get it done.’ You have no choice.
"In my mind, there is no perfect manager. But, one thing I can say honestly, he’s fairly consistent with his demeanor and he’s fairly consistent in how he treats people. It’s tough to perfectly manage 25 people. But, he’s fair. His demeanor on a daily basis is a positive thing for this team."
