Lackey = 2008 Cy Young?
Bummer that Thunder Mountain got a late start this season, but he's been light's out in every start. Assuming he mostly maintains what he has going, I can see a 17-4 type season with an era in the low 2s. He just dominates every time out. There might be pitchers with more wins, but I haven't seen anyone this season I'd rather give the ball to in all of baseball. Would you give him the hardware?

That cheater Gagne got one.
Frankie will need to cool out on the walks though
Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.
kinda...
If its up to guys like Joe Morgan, then all that matters is wins and saves and Ks. WHIP, ERA+, and other such meaningless stats are disregarded. Lackeys got no chance in that system. Better luck on K-Rod when he ends up on the Yankees.
The only thing
that matters to Joe Morgan is how much today’s players don’t match up to the 1975 Reds! He is so much less annoying on mute.

Good Call Yoda......LOL
I think Frankie has a good chance at winning the CY Young if he keeps up his good work.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny.
Lackey, winner of last year’s American League Cy Young Award, surrendered a third-inning home run to Willie Harris.

I think the important part is ...
“This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.” although I think it is embarassing that a reporter for MLB.com of all places doesn’t know, let alone check, his facts. Maybe they should give this guys job to Rev or something.

Frankie?
Wait until he has that stretch in August where he blows several crucial 2+ run leads with wild pitches and walks. Bank on it.

Didn't Danny DeVito say that in Twins?

Yawn
The Cy Young is all about wins, which we all know are a poor indicator of a pitcher’s true performance.
All-Star selection is a popularity contest.
The Gold Glove is an offensive award masquerading as a defensive award.
Silver Sluggers… does anybody really care or pay attention?
Etcetera, etcetera.
Do you guys really still get excited over this extracurricular shit?

Rick Sutcliffe in 1984
Sutcliffe was traded to the Cubs on June 13, 1984 and proceeded to go 16-1 with a 2.69 ERA. That was enough to earn him a Cy Young award that year. So, yeah, it could happen with Big John this year if he continues to perform lights-out. So far, so good.

My, my
aren’t we all defensive and myopic.
I’ll hand it to Frankie; he’s having a great year, a non-heart-attack inducing year thus far. So I give him credit. I just happen to personally believe he’s going to spontaneously combust on the mound at some point.

The power of positive thinking...
has not reached you. I hope you are WRONG for the Angels’ sake, but deep in my heart, I know you quite possibly could be right. I just choose not to think that way (out loud or in writing, at least).
Myopic? No, just not overly pessimistic.

Re: sutcliffe...
didn’t his cumulative totals (Indians + Cubs) equal 20 wins that year?
