i understand why scioscia started jeff today
with the pitcher batting behind him, there arent gonna be many good pitches to hit, meaning unlikely there is a huge difference between the #s of naps and mathis. in this case mathis’s d gives him the edge

there is one manufacturer, Sam Bats, that started using maple because the ASH ones were breaking so much. They provided the power (bat form) for Cansucko and Bonds among others. Vladdy uses their bats. Theirs don’t shatter as often as some of the other manufacturers maple bats do.

Not able to watch on TV, so cannot tell where Kotch's hit went. But...
If GA is the guy you are going to use to force the D to make a play, why not force it on Kotch’s base hit by sending GA from 2nd? Stay out of the double-play, too.

Again, I am blind here, but...
if GA is at 3B when the RF has the ball on Kotch’s hit, that is the same as GA at 3B (tagging) when RF has the ball catching Howie’s fly.
Maybe Howie’s fly was not as deep as Kotch’s hit? Doesn’t sound right, but it would explain things.
On the other hand, with GA rounding 3B from second, he already has speed and momentum. When tagging, the fist few strides are used getting up speed and mo. It would seem that trying to score in the first instance would be a better chance.

there were 2 outs when GA was sent. totally dif situation. because if howie gets a hit, then runs score. but if GA goes for it, and gets out, then the rally is not as vibrant (1st and 2nd 2 outs). also, matthews was on deck.

not true.
It might depend on what the other team is wearing. Are the nats in a darker color or white unis? If dark, then maybe the choice was not there. But, I have seen the reds in use on the road, when the home team was wearing white.

that goal was so depressing
you gotta think turkey would have won had they not lost their goalie. poor play coming out on the last goal and also a poor effort on the second german goal. there is no excuse to being beat near post, especially with that favorable angle (although it was a good shot)
