Some love from ESPN regarding our Starters
Thank god that Reagins stuck to his guns and did not give Santana away. I guess he was VERY available.
"A lot of teams are kicking themselves for not ponying up for Santana," said an American League executive. "I think if you were willing to trade value for value, you could have gotten him, but a lot of teams tried to pay 75 cents on the dollar. Who'd have guessed if you had stepped up on Cliff Lee and Ervin Santana this offseason, you'd have two All-Stars?"
I guess ESPN knows who the Angels are
Although there is also a ridiculous tidbit in this piece:
Best stealproof battery: Jeff Suppan and Jason Kendall, Brewers

It's readily available on the game highlights...
and was unreal to watch. I had to replay it about 10 times before I came to. The Nats’ announcers were so lackluster in calling that one…”there’s your Orlando Cabrera trade, right there.”

don't forget the honorable mention for shields/k-rod
despite the disgusting stuff about suppan and kendall, this article wasn’t half bad. and i’ve gotta throw it up for old joe maddon in TB. he’s doing a hell of a job and i hope he gets the nod for AL manager of the year- no disrespect to sosh of course.

he really has done a great job
with a small payroll in a division that outspends the rest of baseball.

I am very happy for Joe Maddon and the Rays, however
with all of those #1 picks…even a blind squirrel gets hit with an acorn eventually!

Who cares if ESPN says anything about the Halos?
Personally, I’d prefer if they didn’t say anything about them all year so I could yell obsceneties at Steve Phillips and Eric Young for being idiots all year. And then laugh in their face (at my tv) when our boys bring one home.
my bad...k-rod is good.

Who wants to steal when your team can hit nearly .300 against Suppan

Marmol and Wood. really?
the best set-up and closer in the game get the honorable mention, but they pick the two guys from the Cubs.
wow.
good call on Saunders/Santana though.

The one for the Cubs was probably just a nod to Marmol
who in all honesty has been an absolute beast this year. Which is fine with me, since it’s one more team that doesn’t need a closer upgrade.

and what is going on?
only 2 for the red sox, and 0 FOR THE YANKEES?
the angels have more mentions than the yankees and red sox combined (excluding the 15 gabillion ads for red sux tickets). something is wrong with nESPN?

My favorite part:
“A lot of teams are kicking themselves for not ponying up for Santana,” said an American League executive. “I think if you were willing to trade value for value, you could have gotten him, but a lot of teams tried to pay 75 cents on the dollar. Who’d have guessed if you had stepped up on Cliff Lee and Ervin Santana this offseason, you’d have two All-Stars?”
That’s the part that gets me. Teams keep trying to lowball the Angels organization in trades. It’s been going on for years. And we, not realizing this, sit around in the offseason and whine because our GM won’t pull the trigger.
