fresno state leading georgia 6-0 with 2 outs in the top 8. detwiler up (6 rbis tonight). just singled, great play by the RF to keep it a single, and runners on the corners with 2 outs for Fresno

Catcher ERA is a fake statistic.

It doesn’t tell you anything. It’s just noise. There’s no statistical ability to repeat a CERA from year to year, even with the same pitching staff.

there has to be some merit to it, but as of yet, there is no real way to extrapolate a meaning. but wat might have meaning is average innings per catcher (meaning, how many innings the catcher can get the pitcher to go through). i found out that mathis saves our bullpen 81 innings throughout the course of the year. but those numbers are probably flawed somehow…
