oh dear god

hey folks, this sucks!

Lose-1_medium

Blame of the Game: Gene Autry for founding this team specifically to make misery in our lives. (nominate your B.O.T.G. in this thread)

The blame could go to Mathis for his throw into CF, but the bats are the problem and MIster Slumpy has left a lot of his game on the domino table of late...

BLAME OF THE GAME: Torii Hunter

This one

feels bad…especially since its against the Doll-hairs…Blame goes to Mathis..no doubt…
Am I the only one who is sick and tired of seeing Willits taking strike one EVERY single at bat now? I mean tonight, you are up there to get a hit, NOT walk…he should be swinging at that first pitch. Instead, his first swing of the night is a weak one at the third strike….not what a pinch-HITTER should be doing…at leas go down in style..

Screw blaming Mathis......even though he sucks......

our “FRICKEN” 90 Million dollar man is to BLAME….........I’ll play center field and strike out 3 times in 4 AB’s for 1 million for the entire year….........done and done!

i am so disgusted with hunter

NO MO Mathis

by UCIHalo on Jun 28, 2008 10:35 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i'll say it again...

Mathis gets the blame, with an honorable mention for the rest of the effing offense.
his “awesome D” has been complete crap lately, and he’s been even worse at the plate.

honestly, since Mike is so big on catcher’s D, what the hell is Mathis still doing starting games??? the guy plays catch with his center fielder during the game!!! time to give him to boot back to the pine.

this was beyond disgusting.

is it just me or did kendrick not back up the play

it seems like he runs in at the last second, but shouldnt he have backed it up? cuz if he does back it up, then the runner stays at second, gets saced to third, then is stranded

... And all the while, Juan Rivera languishes on the bench ......

Mendoza Line Mathis is BOTG. Throwing that ball halfway to Glendale was inexcusable.

Scioscia has said..

that the offense would be adjusted if people didn’t start snapping out of their slumps..

Any idea when that might happen?

by jimmuscomp on Jun 28, 2008 10:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

uhhhh never?

that was over a week ago, and yet we still see Old Man River batting 3rd and Mathis-Scioscia starting almost every effing game.

seems like it was just talk.

More than that

he said it once back in May. Then he said it again in June. Clearly, it’s nothing but talk. Willits and Rivera don’t make as much money as the rest of the OF/DH contingent, and thus they will not play. Simple as that.

this game blew hard enough to warrant a red flag warning.

My Botg

is Hunter, his AB’s were just sooooo bad. He didn’t see anything resembling a strike and still there he was flailing away. At least Mathis drew a walk, that had Weaver been able to get a bunt down, likely would have resulted in a run.

by MH252525 on Jun 28, 2008 10:39 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

btw...

we have now been held scoreless for 19 innings by the Nationals (for one inning) and the Dodgers (for two games).

ouch.

am i wrong for not thinking this is that big of a deal

terrible game to watch, but this is baseball. we had won 5 in a row before this little 3 game skid. we’re fine.

that said, mathis needs to learn how to throw to second. mike might not throw guys out, but he doesnt gift teams ANOTHER base by airmailing it. Mathis has been doing this since spring training and its really starting to show even more.

if a move is made, i wouldnt be surprised to see it be for another catcher. Mathis’ defense is nothing that cant be replaced or even easily improved.

kendrick in my opinion has shown a lot of flaws at the plate, torii presses in big situations, GA is an eyesore at third…........but its still june! we’ve got time! have faith

Picked the wrong night to go to the theater

Or was it the right night? Unbelievable. Anyone have the low down on a replay? Was the original broadcast FSN or Ghetto-13?

you should be able to watch it at MLB.com

once it’s archived (which it should be by now), it’s free.

and i would just bypass it… unless you really, really want to get pissed off

Hopefully Lackey can get 'em tomorrow

With the bat, I mean. Because right now, this offense could probably find a way to lose a perfect game. The only way I see Lackey winning tomorrow is if he hits a couple homers.

This was embarrassing on a historical level.

I was there.

What a crazy game to be at for my first time as an away fan. It was really stupid that every dodger fan was so ecstatic over the win even though they had no hits. You have to give the blame to anyone but Jared and Jose. Sadly it should go to Reggie because he had a chance to at least tie the game in the 9th. What a fucked up night overall. All the Dodger fans were yelling Angels suck and I was yelling no hits.

Replace 24 with 77!!!

by VladdyG on Jun 29, 2008 3:58 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

No, it's not Reggie's fault

You can’t expect him to actually hit in that situation.

Blame Soth for sticking Mr. .222 RISP up there when he had JUAN RIVERA sitting on the bench.

Just for the record

if a no-hitter is officially recorded in a 5-inning rained-out game, then it damn well should fucking count in this one. That’s just common fucking sense reasoning.

Officially ...

... the powers that be took away the 5 inning no-hitters a couple off-seasons ago. I recall Dean Chance with the Twins having 9 inning and 5 inning no-hitters in the same season. Now the official no-hit list only includes Chance’s 9 inning no-no.

Matt Kemp’s roller with backspin last night was more hit than error. I was at Bill Singer’s July 1970 no-hitter vs Philadelphia at Dodger Stadium. Don Money reached first base safely on a bunt that was fielded by Singer and thrown wildly passed first baseman Wes Parker for an error. Singer’s hurried throw passed first base before Money reached the bag. Afterwards Money declared the play should have been scored a hit. As the throw clearly passed first base before Money I go along with the official scorer’s error ruling.

Last night’s Kemp roller that Jered Weaver was given an error on was more of a hit than Don Money’s 1970 bunt. I know, conventional wisdom says that the first hit of the game has to be a clean one. The same CW says a tie goes to the runner. The umpires I have talked to clearly state that there are no ties. Either the ball or the runner gets to the base first.

With 98 pitches through 6 innings it was very clear that Weaver was not going to pitch 9 innings. If Weaver the Younger had continued he probably would have run out of gas in the 8th inning. Disclaimer: I did not watch last night’s Angels @ Dodgers game. The wife and I were dining out at Kintaro’s in Kapaa feasting on sushi and sake. I did see the highlights of the game afterwards including at least 8 replays of Kemp’s squibber that Weaver could not field. Without the no-hit drama building this play would usually be scored a hit, not an error.

by Yetijuice on Jun 29, 2008 1:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

weaver had the play, and he botched it. ERROR plain and simple.
