Rally Monkey Rip off

Being an Angels fan living in the bay area, I went to the Angels vs. A's game tonight. Thankfully we won due to great pitching. In about the fifth inning the A's put a George of the Jungle movies up (I think it was George) and as George was howling, put up the words, if you make noise he will come. I was stunned, then came an elephant doll on a stick "dancing around". All i could say was "you have got to be kidding me".

I'm just wondering if anyone else went to the game and saw it and what you thought of this

Oh well that had too distract the crowd from their tarps somehow. Might as well infringe on a copyright or two.

Rally Elephant. And isn’t that what you want when your team is down by a few runs? A giant elephant charging through the ball park like one of those Fox “When Animals Attack” shows.

i was there tonight too

that was the dumbest thing i’ve ever seen, and there were alot of a’s fans sitting around me, so thats hard to do.

on the subject of ripping teams off, whenever an A’s player got 3 balls on them, the would start the braves ax-chop thing, but would hold four fingers up. it was also quite stupid. but it made me laugh.

and i really hope one day i hear something other than “hey, go back to disneyland!” or “hey, i think you left your rally monkey in the bathroom!”

oh, and my hero in right field was pretty badass. some a’s fan yelled “sit down, the angels suck!” to which he calmly replied “really? cause the standings say otherwise”

I was there also,

with b0rd3rline.

At first we thought the thing was a joke, like to make fun of us of something.

But then all the A’s fans were singing along, and acting like it was standard procedure or something.

I could just shake my head.

And whoever is in charge of what they show on the “big” screen at the coliseum made a dumb decision in showing A’s highlights from 2002 while the Halos are in town.

It was a nice touch, I thought.

i too have witnessed this embarrassing new ritual...

as a norcal transplant and die hard angels fan. at least the rally monkey gag is creative and fun. the stupid elephant on a stick is just flat out boring. i’ll be there tonight- can i expect to see any other HHers in the “hood”?

In SF

In 2003 I asked the concessions guy if I could buy a rally monkey and he said they did not have one. I pointed to the Giants version of this monkey and asked again to buy a rally monkey. He would not sell it to me unless I addressed it by its proper name. I made fun of my friends that are giants fans.
