Press Enterprise according to espn Reports Escobar will return
An linked article on espn to the press enterprise said that Kelvim Escobar will return this season. Only he will return as a reliever. Seeing escobar was great about to years ago, escobar should be good there, but wont that make a crowded bullpen. could bootcheck be on the way out? also, the article points to an interesting scenario-- if K-rod goes out next year (and by all means i dont want that in anyway) could escobar be the closer next year? here is the link to the full article.

substitution...
bootcheck = 0, so your equation becomes…
0 + Rivera = decent reliever => Rivera = decent reliever.
Balanced equation.

shields
would be the 1st option to take over next year for frankie if he leaves via FA. Escobar only stays in the BP next year if wear/injury prevents him from throwing 100 pitches a game.
BTW, i don’t think that would necessarily be a bad thing though if indeed frankie does leave. Shields/Arredondo/Speier/Escobar/Moseley is not too bad of a BP.

Tell me you were being facetious, yes?
You already have on your payroll the number one closer in all of baseball over the past 4 1/3 seasons, registering 193 saves in that span, and you are perfectly fine with replacing him with a kid who has all of 11 innings pitches in 10 games and given up 7 hits?
sigh…we are going to rue the day.

That is not how I read it.
I didn’t see [Arredondo + Shields] is better than [Shields + Rodriguez]. I read it as -if- Frankie leaves (which is looking more like a certaintly) then a BP with a net loss of Rodriguez’ ability plus the addition of Escobar is still pretty good.
I wouldn’t have gone as far as saying that it was ‘necesssarily be a bad thing’, but the addition of Escobar might make up for or soften the blow of losing what has become the roller coaster that is the K-Rod show.
just my 2cents.
