First!
Wish we had an Angel to cheer for today, but if it means that Vlad’s swing isn’t screwed up for the second half, I’ll get over it.

Another data point for East Coast Bias.
In ESPN’s video montage of the first half, I counted at least three walk-off home runs against us (Longoria, Quentin, and Hamilton last week). There were no clips of Angels doing anything positive at all.

also ellis had the walk off grand slam.
even though torii hit a walk of grand slam which was like 200 times more dramatic than the one the As hit. I was about to post this too.

Worst HR Derby lineup ever
Is there even a major market player, let alone star, in this thing?
by HungryHunter on Jul 14, 2008 4:29 PM PDT 0 recs
Uggh
Sad to say that he is the biggest name in this. No Vlad, no Mannie, no Ortiz, no Howard, no Griffey, no ARod. This thing is all about star power and they have none.

Eh, maybe, maybe not
I’m personally happy to see baseball coverage on ESPN that doesn’t involve the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, or Cubs. Unfortunately the derby is in that dumb stadium so they will have plenty to talk about.

They just said that Yankee Stadium is the most hitorical sports venue in the world.
Then why are they tearing it down? I would tend think the Coliseum in Rome is the most historical sports venue in the world, which by the way, they have not torn down.

Sigh. Besides 44FAN calling The Coliseum...
There are a couple of other sports venues with a significantly high number of great sports moments in history, which would rate at or near that of Yankee Stadium…
Historically
Circus Maximus
Globally
Wimbledon
Wembley
St. Andrews
Monaco Grand Prix
Pamplona, Spain
Roland Garros
End even here in the US, we have
Notre Dame Stadium
Michigan Stadium
Churchill Downs
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Rose Bowl
Boston Garden (which they also tore down)
LA Memorial Coliseum (What? A couple of Summer Olympics is chop suey?)
Augusta National Golf Course
The Rose Bowl
Daytona Motor Speedway
And then, even inside NYC...
Madison Square Garden
And this is not counting several major venues in Europe and South America dedicated to soccer, a sport far, far older than baseball! Hell, even Fenway and Wrigley can stand up to Yankee Stadium in even the limited terms of US baseball history.

I love me some Josh Hamilton.
I know he’s on the hated Rangers, but you gotta respect a guy strong enough to put all his demons behind him and come back to the game.
The fact that he’s on all of my fantasy team probably helps.

is it just me...
or do you also find it retarded… all these mlb’ers with shiny new home-vid cameras? every year I see these guys doing this and I don’t get it. just enjoy the damn show LIVE… ESPNs coverage is pretty good… just freakin’ Tivo it. i doubt they’ll be watching their footage at home… that is unless they got some good shots of Erin Andrew’s ass.

Yeah, ESPN has nice coverage when they’re batting, but how about when they’re walking around just enjoying being an All-Star?

i don't buy it...
just seems like most of them do it because they saw someone else do it in years past, and now everyone’s doing it… it’s the thing to do… buy a new camera and pretend like your making a home movie for your fam.
maybe it’s just me being cynical.
