I'm pretty sure Mike, at this point

has realized that Rivera can still hit the way he always could. And in doing so, has realized that we already have our big bat.

big?

That might be a tad kind

Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

.880 OPS, in this park

Is as big a bat as you’ll find short of Vlad or Pujols

Dude the hell with the 5 extra homers Dunn might hit in this park

I’m going to take Rivera and his .300~ average over Dunn’s piddling .220 every time. Hits drive in runs, not walks or Ks.

I have never written anything postive about Dunn.

Outside of Dunn

or the aforementioned Pujols/A-Rod/Vlad type, there are 0 people on the market with more homer power than Juan.

Mark Teixiera is in Atlanta

with an .858 OPS on the season, hitting .271 with 17 homers in 347 ABs, with a pace of 1 homer per 20.4 ABs.

Anaheim’s PF is 12% worse for hitting homers than Atlanta. Half that to 6% because only half his games are played at home, and multiply 20.4 * 1.06 = 21.6 ABs per homer playing out of Angel Stadium.

Matt Holiday plays in Colorado, has a .963 OPS with 14 homers in 313 ABs, meaning 22.4 ABs per homer.

Anaheim’s PF is 35% worse than Coors for hitting homers. Half that to 17.5% and multiply 22.4 * 1.17 = 26.2 ABs per homer out of Angel stadium.

Juan Rivera, playing a full season out of Angel Stadium- 19.5 ABs per homer.

Juan Rivera, career in Angel Stadium, including last year when he was injured and barely got to play, this year when he’s been nickel and dimed all season before July, and ‘05 where it was late August before we started giving him regular playing time- 21.6 ABs per homer.

The above numbers do NOT include a transition from the NL to the AL. I will repeat myself. Sans Adam Dunn, there are ZERO people with more homer power on the market than Juan Rivera.

For the math wizzes out there

I’m aware that Holliday’s calculation should have been 22.4 *1.175, but I thought I’d be sporting and round down, since these numbers are just estimates anyway.

What you are still failing to add to your formula...

would be the impact on the number of hangovers Tex would suffer by celebrating the joy of joining a playoff-bound organization, versus Halliday who was in a WS just a year ago.

Then, for both players, there is the increased load factor of all the hot female fans we have here in OC chasing him across the parking lot after each game. It would be safe to assume that neither marital status, nor actual good looks of either player, would have any impact on female groupies.

Further, you need to formulate the liability of Rivera going down again, and the use of GMJ causing the number of AB’s for every player to drop slightly on a per game average, as he swings us out of rallys.

Finally, both home and away AB’s have to be modified by the square root of the Hatcher Constant.

1,2, and 4 are all valid points

But why would Rivera going down affect either Holliday or Teixiera’s play time? Rivera/GMJ are the guys they are replacing.

Word

Tex is a second half guy. He is a bigger HR threat than Rivera. No adjustment to the AL needed.

Rivera's a second half guy too.

Still better than Tex.

Says who?

This is just rumor by sports journalists. No direct quotes from anybody in the Angels Executive Offices. I would be willing to bet Juan Rivera is very much on the trade table if a deal came along that is often described by Reagins as, ” Would make the team better.”

Look Back Farther in Mlbtraderumors

Maybe we should start one of those wave things?

What do you expect him to say?

I am desperate for a bat?

Sign him now

Save the big money for pitching/resigning. Too much big money tied up in the outfield to afford a “bigger” bat.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.
