CONGER: 3 HR in 1 Game
Rancho QUAKE Hank "KING" Conger hit 3 Homeruns as a SWITCH HITTER in ONE Game on Wednesday - 1 from the RIGHT side and 2 from the LEFT side. Only bad news is he is still the DH and not Catching.

Injuries sure have been a problem for him
There are some who think his bat could play at first; obviously he has more value behind the plate, but there are problems with his mobility from what I recall.
Witty .sig goes here.
Sounds nice but this guy aint the answer
unless he gets a whole lot better.
Look at D-Mac’s minor league numbers:

If only D-Mac had stayed healthy…
Uh... Through age 23, Wood seems to kick D-Mac's backside up one street and down the other.
Was that your point?
~Till the Halo burns out...
Really? How do you figure?
Thru 23:
D-mac has a BA of .310 and SLG of .592 with 1 HR per 17 ABs
In his 23rd year he was slugging in the .660-680 range with a .310+ average and 80 HRs
Dick has BA of .287 and SLG of .546 with 1 HR per 19 ABs
In his 23rd year he is slugging .500 with a .258 BA and 14 HRs in 61 games.
How do you conclude that Dick is better?
1.The fact that he was playing at AAA by the time D-Mac reached Rancho
2. Wood’s numbers are dragged down by the fact that he started 2 years younger than D-Mac did and has played at every level at an earlier age.
3. Those ages, while technically accurate, conceal the fact that Wood started this season about 8 months younger than D-Mac was when he started his “age 23” season. A better comparison for D-Mac’s half-season at AAA will be the first half of Wood’s next year, assuming that Wood hasn’t started playing in the majors by then.
4. Wood has taken time off of two seasons to help the Olympic team, while D-Mac only took time off when he got injured, the selfish prick. (j/k)
5. Minor League numbers mean squat; see if you can guess who the following Minor League ages and OPS’s belongs to:
20 – LowA – .785
21 – HighA – .803
21 – AA – .797
22 – AA – .839
23 – AAA – 1.141
~Till the Halo burns out...
Wow... such clarity

You couldn't think up a response to ANY of them?
Damn, I’m better than I thought.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Good point
D-Mac started each of his “Age ##” seasons at the age listed plus 8 months (Dallas is a LEO) while Brandon Wood starts each “Age ##” season at the age listed plus 1 month (Brandon is a PISCES), so there are even wider disparities in the player development that would favor betting on Wood to developmentally outperform the former Minor League Player of the Year.
By the way- the answer to #5 is Tim Salmon
For more confirmation of the truth of number 5, check out Chase Utley as a prospect.
~Till the Halo burns out...
i think you cherry-picked that time
“minor league numbers mean squat” is a terrible overgeneralization.
Which time? Salmon or Utley?
Because I picked Salmon due to the fact that I’d looked up his numbers earlier for a separate argument in the prospect topic. The Utley link I ran across while checking on the Philly prospect the A’s got in the Blanton trade.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Minor League Numbers DO matter
A guy bats .080 for two years in the minors, guess what, he is gone. Why? The frickin’ numbers.
I meant "numbers" more in the sense of putting up big numbers.
Sure, minor league numbers are important on some level and bad ones remain bad. But the fact is after a certain point they tell you very little about whether a guy can do it at the big league level or not. You just have to give the guy his shot and find out, and sometimes developing the person in question can take several years. Sometimes the person in question is a Kotchman or a Kendrick who just shoots through the minors.
Did D-Mac have some cool minor league batting lines? No question. I was stoked to see that guy in an Angel uni. I’ve never seen anybody who could crush balls to dead center like he could.
But he didn’t pan out. Does that mean that anyone who puts up similar but slightly worse numbers in the minors will also not pan out? Hell no. That’s ridiculous.
