Blanton

never really developed into the pitcher that the A’s had hoped for, probably a decent deal for the A’s.

You know, maybe Reagins does need to do more trades.

“A box of crap for my second highest ranked prospect? Why SURE Beane, anything for you ol’ buddy ol’ pal.”

Magic Beane

The Phils #2 prospect and some for Joe Bloe Blanton? Wild.

Cardenas figures to be at least an average defensive second baseman and should have the offensive potential that will keep him on the radar. There are already some comparisons to Chase Utley, which it’s pretty early for. Having said that, there are similarities between the two and Cardenas has great potential, if not the early hype that Utley had when he was drafted.

From here.

Wow.

Want to feel better about Kotchman, S-Rod, Wood and Howie’s future prospects? Take a look at Utley’s minor league numbers. Can you say mediocre?

After a .742 OPS at age 22 in A+

I think I might have given up on him too. I mean, Clearwater isn’t Rancho by any stretch, but DAMN.

Just a dumb move by Philly. Blanton is going to be terrible in that band box.

Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

Not so much

1) Moving to the DH-less NL.
2) He actually has a 1.39 G/F ratio. He can make a living getting balls to his infielders.

On the whole, I like this trade for both sides. The A’s get a second baseman of the future with some pop, and a little pitching thrown in. The Phillies get a league-average pitcher (in the NL) who isn’t going to have the health problems Adam Eaton has had.

Witty .sig goes here.

Well let's have a gentleman's bet. Blanton is going to suck.

Blanton

Seemed like he was one of those pitchers that could never turn the corner, ala Lackey, and become somewhat dominant. He is an inninng eater for sure.

I think it is a little bit early to give up on Blanton.

I don't like it...

This guy keeps loading up and forcing us to sit on our hands. Each move guarantees we do nothing, and pretty soon we won’t even need a GM .

ring ring – “Hi you’ve reached Tony’s voice mail, don’t bother making an offer cuz the A’s won’t let me trade any of our prospects. Have a nice day.”

I really do not think the Angels are that short sighted. I think they have their eyes set on the whole enchilada.

The question is do they like the price?

Blanton should make the Phillies Better

1. They obviously don’t have someone as good as Blanton at the bottom of the rotation
2. He ERA should drop a bit since there is no DH
3. He will get plenty of run support
4. He won’t have to face the Phillies

Probably a good move for them. As for the prospects the A’s are getting, only time will tell.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.
