F you MLB/Fox
Sweet, nationally televised game, I’ll just switch on Fox! Uh, no, I live in san diego, so they’re showing the Padres/Cardinals here. Sigh. Oh well, I have MLB.tv, so Ill just settle for that. Nope! National broadcast so it’s blacked out! Haha, joke’s on me.
Real smart guys, a dedicated fan who spends extra money to watch games on a daily basis has no option to watch a marquee matchup involving his favorite team. That’s the way to keep a fan base!

You know what sucks?
My broadband service at home is down, so I’ve had to take the laptop into Inverness Scotland town centre on a Saturday night (think Baghdad and you won’t be far off). So watching on the lappie in the only quiet place in town, a posh hotel with wifi and a horde of blue-hairs. Plus I can only get 400K MLB.TV here.

~Till the Halo burns out...
Quite possibly
But if you were Mike Scioscia and kept running it all day long about balls and strikes, eventually it would be the heave-ho.
Saunders needs to establish HIS strike zone and start drilling the Red Sox inside. That’s why he needs command of that fastball on the inside corner, not down and away.

the team in general never takes enough pitches vs. Beckett
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
but Zu, 38 pitches through 4
Maicer a first swing popup in the first hurt
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
Beckett traditionally threw a lot of balls, but he has improved his K-BB ratio the past couple years
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
Yeah.
Young pitchers tend to improve. Right now, he’s nailing this umps outside corner against righties, first pitch, every time. It’s hard to take a bunch of pitches when he’s hitting that outside spot whenever he feels like it.
~Till the Halo burns out...
my point being
I think we can work the count a little better against him. But he’s tough, no doubt about it

And further, if you're GOING to swing at it what the HELL are you trying to pull it for?
~Till the Halo burns out...
not really, those last two swings were very defensive swings
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
Doesn't make sense though.
The ump called that spot a ball earlier on in the game.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Man, I guess.
God, usually he’s less retarded than that. Get it TOGETHER guys.
~Till the Halo burns out...
that 3-2 swing- he looked desperate to put the ball in play, it was waaay outside
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
how about the over/under on Howie getting to 10 BB this year
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
That's my point.
He needs to learn that sometimes, he’s not pitching to you, and all you can do is trust Mathis.
Or at the very least, try to hit it away like you do every thing else.
~Till the Halo burns out...
I completely agree, great hitter...needs to learn to be patient
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
Patient not so much.
If it’s in the zone crush it. It’s only when they are clearly not pitching to you (probably because of Mathis behind you) that you have to just take the damn walk.
~Till the Halo burns out...
hahaha
J. Cust
0-4, .227
Last AB: Strikeout
Last Play: J. Cust struck out swinging
I love that guy.
http://inplaynoouts.blogspot.com/ - A blog about teams I like, written by me.
My fantasy commish designed the league...
so that Cust is more valuable than Ichiro.
He holds the firm belief that if Oakland and Seattle made a Cust/Ichiro trade, Seattle would be getting Cust at a bargain.
The problem we're having is that after throwing a lot of strikes early,
Beckett’s throwing everything out of the zone now, knowing our guys are going to try to be agressive.

We're beating ourselves right now.
I don’t buy that Angel-killer crap anymore than I do Lackey being “owned” by the Sox.
~Till the Halo burns out...
plus, like Zu said- Joe isn't pitching a terrible game, the offense just doesn't exist
but we really missed a chance for a run in the first
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...

It's called "Josh Beckett"
He’s an awesome pitcher, working the zone beautifully and he knows how to get our hitters out.

good time to PH for Mathis...but ???? he's gonna hit
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
Mathis
Why is he in??
I still don’t have a feel for this rotation scheme.
How does he hit worse at home??
by matthiasstephan on Jul 19, 2008 2:33 PM PDT up reply actions
Because this is a pitchers park.
And he’s in probably because Naps in on the DL. Maybe. Just a guess.
~Till the Halo burns out...
slow catcher, leading off an inning, hitting .210...
as evidenced by what should have been an infield hit, turned into a 6-3 GO because he’s so slow
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
yeah, but it's still early

Yes he has.
I’m watching gameday, and he’s gotten EVERYTHING close to the plate. Especially on that side.

Well at least he threw some pitches....
...if we can just get to their middle relievers…
...on the road....
yup, the only reliever we will be getting to is Paplebon
Where Howie took a BB and hit two HR's in the same game...
Meh.
If we can close it to one in the next two innings, we have a chance against Paps.
