Is it me or does this sound ridiculous ?

I know it’s only a short-term rental, but it seems cheap (and it’s not like Wood’s value is at an all-time high).

This might be the most ridiculous trade rumor of the year

Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

If this was true, and the Angels DIDN'T do it

I’d roll on down to Anaheim and beat Reagins senseless with his laptop.

This would be awesome!

Reagins is going to be on 710am here in a little bit, let’s see if he has anything to say.

I suppose it MIGHT be true when you consider 6 years of Wood vs 2 months of Teixiera.

But I’m not sure if it would be a good idea. Wood has so much potential and for a 2 month rental of production we already have at DH. I don’t like it.

I would do it in a heartbeat

I do not even have to think about this.

I agree.

I normally would be hesitant about trading long-term potential for a short-term rental, but Tex, unlike most others that are rumored in trades, would actually help our offense. Plus, we’d get draft picks if we didn’t resign him, which would make up for trading a top prospect.

How does Tex improve our offense?

In this park, Tex just becomes 06 Rivera. We ALREADY HAVE RIVERA.

Tex clearly is a second half guy

Juan has 3 HR is 94 AB

Tex 19 in 361

Besides we could play both.

Juan is a second half guy.

And has been getting nickel and dimed before July, where he has 3 homers in 32 ABs. See? I can have fun with small sample sizes too!

And we could play both if management was planning on sitting GA, which they aren’t.

Juan's career is a small sample size

They can play both of them.

Can isn't the same as will.

They won’t play both. And in any case, Casey’s Kiss of Death makes a good case in the other topic that GA looks likely for a repeat of his 2007 second half.

In my world Tex wouldn't displace Rivera, he'd displace GA & GMJ.

And if we didn’t resign him, I’d be comfortable with the draft picks provided that we only gave up one solid prospect for him (Wood).

by snowhor on Jul 22, 2008 10:37 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

But in the real world GA doesn't sit.

Juan does. Also the draft pick we get starts from square one (4-5 years away unless it’s a REALLY high, out of college pick) and is uncertain, while Wood is getting close to being a finished product.
