Ever wonder what happens?
When a player like Kotch or Tex gets traded the day of a game with no chance to make many plans? Here's a few questions I have and I'm sure there are many more:
An hour before the game he re-dresses to street clothes and heads for the airport:
1) The team has already bought him a ticket on a commercial airline - does he fly first or coach?
2) When he arrives, who meets him and where do they go?
3) Assuming he stays at the team hotel, he theoretically has no clothes other than the ones on his back....
4) Assuming (and we do) that he is in the lineup either that day or the next day, he has a locker and a uniform all ready prepared for him which somehow fits perfectly so he is not distracted performing his duties.
Anybody know how all this stuff gets done?

The Angel's seamstress...
has to show up early (1:00am) and start getting to work on the new player’s uniform. She said she was glad when O.C. got traded because his uni was always ripped and dirty. I bet she hates these mid-season trades too.

WE are in the Road. Boston's people are making Tex's Jersey.
When traded players measurements ETC are exchanged.
Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

My guesses
1) CBA governs (I can’t believe they would fly coach)
2) Team traveling secretary sets him up in a hotel and one of those guys holding a sign with his name on it meets him at the airport
3) Kotch would probably have the same clothes (i.e., his luggage) that he had in Boston and arrange for stuff to be sent from home. Evidently Teixeira’s family will be staying with Boros until he gets set up
4) Team seamstress goes to work (see above)

He lives forever due to a walk-off hit against the Yankees, also...

That was big, but walk-off hits happen every year.
Epic jersey misspellings are much rarer. :-P

Private Charter Jets
When a team has to get a player from on place to another in a hurry, they use corporate jets to get them there. I read recently that Ervin Santana, Frankie Rodriquez, and some A’s player flew together on one to get to New York for the All-Star game.

Thanks! That was very helpful – gives good insight as to how much it upsets the lives of the players and their families. And, just think of how many times a year it happens!
