Halos Want C. C. Sabathia Next Year
I don't post much here but i read everything somebody else posts. I don't think i have seen this Sabathia story here yet but if i'm wrong my bad. Check the link
http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10913317
I have been a season ticket holder for 23 years now and am completely satisfied with the direction the front office is taking us. I am foaming at the mouth in anticipation of the post season . " RED OCTOBER "
Also i wanted to know if any body else saw what i saw on Monday night ESPN telecast of the Angels. 8th inning , 2 and 1 count on Figgy and he hits a foul ball off to the right side. It seemed to me at the time while watching it live that a piece of the bat broke off and went to the left. No one even looked that way and Figgy continued using the same bat. I had it on TIVO and if you slow it down you can definitely see somrthing come off the bat other than the ball.
Anyone else see it .... ??

I missed the toothpick
Sabathia over Garland would be an upgrade. Sorry for posting such a controversial conversation starter.

Sabathia will command A LOT of money
it’ll probably come down to either CC or Tex. that’ll depend on which group we have more faith in – starting pitchers or offense.

I'll be surprised if we manage to hold on to Texiera,
but I’ll be SHOCKED if we pick up Sabathia. He’s the only guy higher on the Yankees shopping list than Texiera and with the way their pitching staff has performed of late I suspect the Yankees will overpay by MASSIVE ammounts to get their man signed quickly.

Come now
The Yankees have THE best rotation in baseball. At least that was the picture they were painting over the weekend national games vs BOS. They were fawning all over them. ;-)
Bye Bye Ohio, hello Valencia!

meanwhile, we're on the verge of a SECOND STRAIGHT SWEEP of boston
and we get a golf clap.
although i was pleasantly surprised at the ESPN love pre-trade yesterday. Somebody else mention Around The Horn saying that we have “everyone’s number this year”.
i smiled when i heard that.

Money might not be right bait for C. C.
I have a feeling that there are a lot of players that might want to play for Arte and would give up a few million offered by other teams just to play on the LEFT COAST. Sounds like C.C. is already building a house here.

I'm down with C.C.
You ever see his episode of Cribs? Sweet house. I say sign the dude, he’d be more valuable than Frankie in the long run. Probably.

o man
i just read that article and WOW
i spoke with my brother earlier and we talked about the projected angel lineup now, and with as much as i love kotchman, this lineup now looks and feels downright scary from top to bottom, if they pull it off and nab teixera in the offseason and then turn around and put up the bucks to get C.C. it would leave me speechless and giddy, i wouldnt know what to do with myself

Yabut
who will lay down the killer suicide squeeze?
I give Mathis major, MAJOR props for his bunting skills.

i will always think that...
mathis is superior to napoli. maybe not by much, but he just looks so much smoother behind the plate and i think he is a better all around hitter. he has power, he makes contact (a lot of them are pop ups tho) and he mig+ht +be top 3 bunters on this team, thats IMO tho.

Napoli is a LOT better with the stick.
A SLG % of .470+ from your catcher is HUGE. Naps was a good defender until this year – hope it was the shoulder that was bothering him.

to be honest
the johan santana and bary zito deals scare me to death and CC is in the bartolo colon conditioning range. I know hes not old and hes great, but if Tony gets TOO aggressive, this team could be really hamstrung with fat contracts
by ihearhowie2.0 on Jul 30, 2008 3:26 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Let us all not forget...
As Mr. Physioc so frequently reminded us…
that Colon won the CY YOUNG…
If CC can do that with the Colon conditioning range, I’ll be happy.
Of course I'm right... I have a UC education.

Colon won the CY Young...
out of four years. One other he posted an ERA over 5.00 and the other two he was injured. I’ll pass. I really like CC, but he is friggin’ HUGE and not likely to age gracefully.

also
another one of colon’s issues was his height. C.C. is much more proportioned with his weight and his mechanics are better.
colon didnt follow thru all the way when he pitched and his elbow dipped too much causing all that strain on his shoulder and elbow.
C.C. is more over the top and follows thru more fluidly.

man, gmjr's contract looks so very, very bad right now.
"it's mind-bottling."

It looked that bad...
the instant it was signed. He is an awful major league player. Waste of money.

One step at a time
Let’s enjoy the 2008 season and continue to hope we make the playoffs, including a deep run therein, before looking that far ahead. I’m more interested in our current rotation than upcoming offseason speculation.

I think it's interesting...
Sabathia’s building a house in OC. In their world of private jets and other people carrying their luggage, it must still be a big consideration to be able to 81 games at “home”.

Milwaukee is riding him hard and putting him away wet
I want nothing to do with him.
Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.
