Manny to LA Dodgers, Bay to BoSux
Just walked in the house from Boston & NYC and I turn on Espn and CBSSportsline.com and this is what I am hearing/seeing...
"The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired slugger Manny Ramirez from the Red Sox, sources tell CBSSports.com senior writer Scott Miller. Also part of the deal, the Red Sox will receive outfielder Jason Bay from Pittsburgh."
TK and Phillips are on ESPNews reporting this live right now too...
LA sends LaRoche to join his bro in Pitt who also receives Brandon Moss, Bryan Morris, and Craig Hansen.
WAIT...HERE IS THE KICKER! BoSux is paying the entire remaining $7M of Manny's salary! OMG!
Griffey goes to ChiSox in another deal.

Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen
are both Red Sox, so the Sox gave up three players to get Jason Bay.
Angels in 08!
Note the addendum I just added...
BOSTON IS PAYING ALL OF HIS REMAINING SALARY TO PLAY FOR LA!
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?
McPoor would have to get a second mortgage to be able to afford Man Ram
Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.
Kobe tell me how my ass tastes
ya
boston just lost its scariest hitter. Great year to be an angels fan!
jason bay is good, but hes nowhere near ramirez and theres no guarantee he’ll handle the expectations and media of boston
Dammit
stupid slow network traffic made me take forever to add a poll to my fanpost. i got beat :(
Boston gave up a lot to get Bay…I know, I know…addition by subtraction. But Bay is a step down from Manny, and yet they also had to tack on prospects to get it done.

But a step up defensively
I’d say its a wash for Boston.

This is a great trade...for us!
- Hmmm…who would you rather pitch to?
M-Ram or Jason Bay…
- The Bo Sux did nothing to upgrade their sucky pitching
- the Rays did absolutely nothing
- The Angels got Tex
Advantage: Angels
Trade Manny for a bag of salt...
i think the real winners are the Yankees
with additions of pudge, nady & marte, they just opened up the door to win the East

Marte was a nice acquisition...Pudge is alright...
Nady is playing over his head and everybody knows it…
And they still have no starting pitching…
Trade Manny for a bag of salt...
Nady's OPS has gone up every year in the big leagues
I remember when he was a huge prospect with the Padres. Seems like it took him time to develop, but his last 3 seasons have been solid.
Pudge may be old & deteriorating, but he’s a HUGE upgrade offensively to Jose.
And yeah, their back end starters suck, but if they make the playoffs they’ll be fine with Joba, Mussina, and Pettite (and possibly Wang).
So, yeah….go Rays!

I'm not buying Nady
If he was so good, he wouldn’t have been traded four times by now.
Pudge off steriods isn’t nearly as scary as the one a few years back.
Mussina is very, very hittable.
Wang – don’t think he’scoming back this season.
Tampa Bay should have gone after a bat or another pitcher. I think they tried real hard to get Bay.
Trade Manny for a bag of salt...
I still remember destroying both Pettite and Mussina in '02.
That just leave Jobba the Hutt, which is just another reason I’m bummed we won’t be seeing him this time around in New York.
~Till the Halo burns out...
ya seriously
looks like all those articles trashing the dodgers for dealing like pussies finally caught up to the doyers

A PERFECT FIT...
Doyer fan is going to love ManRam. He deserves to play in that toilet they call the Chavez Latrine. The Doyers should now try to get Jose Guillen and bring back Bradley.
And Bonds
I swear, if one more person tells me to "work smarter, not harder"...

if it werent the dodgers, id almost feel like it was a great trade
but the dodgers have proven to be a kiss of death as far as big name vets go.
methinks manny will work out better than the schmidts, jones, pierres and nomars of the world, but i wouldnt expect them to even be a lock to the playoffs.
I still take arizona in that division
You know, it occurs to me that the Dodgers are the one team
that needed another outfielder less than we did. I mean seriously, hadn’t they JUST gotten their playing-time problem solved with Jones going down for the year? Now they have 4 outfielders again and no DH. Unless they flipped Ethier or Kemp in a separate trade for pitching…
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Andrew Jones is batting below .200
He is washed up. This really wasnt a horrible move for them
Write to the Angels front office. Get Tim Salmon's number 15 retired!
Actually, I apparently just dreamed up Andruw Jones going down for the year, so yeah, 5 OF,
3 of whom are making atleast 10 million per year and the other 2 being mainstays of the offense and the Dodgers’ future. That’s gonna be a happy clubhouse.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
why is this a surprise
the dodgers have always spent their money the worst out of all the high payroll teams.
Theyre going to have 18 million of jones and 9 of pierre just sitting on the bench as defensive replacements or they’ll bench a solid hitter in Ethier if they insist on having pierre be a leadoff hitter. And its not like these are guys who signed long contracts and just wore down. Years 1 and 2 of their deals respectively

All this deal means is
a player I hate is just on a different team I hate. Glad he didn’t go the Cubs or Cards or some other team I sort of like. I hate it when guys I like go to teams I hate. I admit, I kind of liked A-Rod until NY revealed who he really is – a’douche’a.
I swear, if one more person tells me to "work smarter, not harder"...
I love not having to see Manny...
On deck behind Ortiz anymore. Bay is solid and will work well in Boston. Here’s the thing about what we’ve seen this deadline:
All of the powerhouse AL teams that have been a steady source of concern appear to be more vulnerable than they’ve been in years. Yankees rotation is weak, Sox rotation is not as good as last year, bullpen has been shaky and unexperienced, Tigers have been the tigers… Gotta love the Halos. They’ve been the class of the league again and are now getting some respect throughout…

I dont think Bay is that much of a downgrade
1) at least you know he will play 100% every day
2) His D is better than Manny’s
3) He isnt a DoucheBag
He played in Pittsburgh all those years, a team that people ignore. He is better than he gets credit for

What is he going to do when the media turns up the heat.
I will tell you this, up by one man on second who would rather pitch to Man Ram or Jason Bay? Yeah I thought so.

If you look at their numbers side by side for this year
they are pretty even

I would rather pich to Manny
I would bean him in the face and then get a DP ball from the next guy

That is one way to approach it.

The Dodgers and Red Sox are so stupid
I’m too tired to go into all the reasons why, but I think we all know. 68-40 doesn’t suck either.
