Of all active players with fewer than 913 career at bats, who's hit the most doubles
2B ABs
61 796 Howie Kendrick
60 902 Ryan Ludwick
57 868 Alex Gordon
56 807 Ryan Doumit
54 904 Brendan Harris
In fact, as far as I am able to manipulate the Baseball Reference Play Index, Howie Doubles ranks very high among players within their first 800 ABs. This isn't a full list -- it's culled from players who after having finished a season had less than 800 career ABs at the time; plus active players (who I can search for better):
61 740 Riggs Stephenson
61 757 Howie Kendrick
60 745 Fred Schulte
60 771 Jorge Cantu
60 797 Alex Rodriguez
59 672 Dick Porter
59 762 David Orti
Anyway, Howie hits an awful lot of doubles. He's already 46th in doubles on the Angels' all-time list, tied with Juan Beniquez and Felix Torres. He'll pass Mickey Rivers and J.T. Snow in no time, and will likely displace Carney Lansford from 33rd place by the end of the year. His rate of 12.4 at bats per double his higher than all-time doubles leader Tris Speaker (12.9), #2 man Pete Rose (18.8) ... and in fact every single player on the Top 150 doubles list. Garret Anderson, who is 67th all-time in doubles, hits one every 16.3 ABs.
