Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Almost ... Kinda

Blame of the Game: You tell me

Lose-5_medium

And the blame of the game goes to...

Star-divide

Blame of the Game: John Lackey

5 earned runs is 5 earned runs. We'd nail Weaver, Magic, Hokie Joe or Judy for it, the Ace has got to take the medicine from Doctor Blame like anyone else.

YOu cannot ask more of Maicer than to hoit hard line drives

this time they went straight to gloves but he did exactly what he should have been doing, what he is paid to do, what he LIVES to do.

i have a hard time blaming Lackey.........

this time…....because this has been the only time he has not come through really….......he has bailed the O out numerous times…......and the O didnt help him out much…....until he was long gone.

Yeah.

But still, 5 runs. That’s a deep hole to overcome.

considering how many times he had to put up 0's against teams

(most notably his last start vs dodgers) He gets a pass from me….......

by norcaliangelsfan on Jul 5, 2008 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions

He's only put up a 0 the once though.

The other times it’s always 1 run. I hear you though. I have a hard time blaming Izzy though. That last line shot was freaking clobbered and Rolen just happened to be standing there.

and by 0's i meant innings........not games.......

no biggie though…..he’s just kept us in more games than not….......

by norcaliangelsfan on Jul 5, 2008 9:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

But I note that Frankie somehow has two BOTGs despite the fact that he’s only lost us one game (Other was a blown save) and has done his job quite well every other time out. Lackey gave this one up.

In a painful game

Napoli was hardest to watch.

Also, why is Kendrick batting 8th behind Gary?

by TheTypingFiend on Jul 5, 2008 9:02 PM PDT reply actions

leave him there........he is just fine batting 8th.........

Why is Gary batting period.

I mean, sure, clutch single, but christ he’s hard to watch, especially knowing we have Juan on the bench. I notice more butchery in left field today as well.

Naps

was a rally killer late which hurts.. the E’s hurt but he wasnt the only one tonight. i have a hard time blaming lackey for a rare offnight. hard time blaming izzy too its not like he was terrible at the plate he was smacking the ball hard tonight, but much like earlier in the season they’re going right to the defenders

And you can LITE UP THAT HALO !!!

by BigBangRobbDawgg on Jul 5, 2008 9:05 PM PDT reply actions

Maybe that's the problem

that bat wasn’t giving him line drive outs. The replacement is. He should go find that fan and trade bats.

BOTG: Maicer Izturis

From hero the last game to goat the next. He stranded as many as the Halos had errors.

With our Mendoza Line Twins at catcher, maybe its about time to put catching help on our wish list. 26 for 26 successful stolen bases given up doesn’t help.

You ever feel as if your mind had started to erode?

by PieceOfAase on Jul 5, 2008 9:19 PM PDT reply actions

Maicer was crushing the ball.

Lackey’s our ACE. Like our closer, he does not get to fail. I think anything short of a QS becomes blame territory for him, and tonight was pretty far short, especially a team that has struggle as much with offense as the Jays.

by Zu Long on Jul 5, 2008 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Crushing the ball?

The only thing that did the crushing was his errant bat upside an unexpecting fan’s head. He crushed the ball to an 0 for 4, 4 LOB night.

Big John can share in the dubious award.

i say Torii

he’s been flat out horrible recently. he’s almost an automatic out.

Mike Scioscia: He provides to unlike method of your team member.

by howiestheman on Jul 5, 2008 9:29 PM PDT reply actions

3 for his last 12

with a double and a homer prior to tonight. Not that bad.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Jul 5, 2008 9:33 PM PDT up reply actions

think a bit before that

and weren’t the double and homer last night?

Mike Scioscia: He provides to unlike method of your team member.

2 of those hits came in one game..........

plus .250 is not good for a 4-5 hitter…......

Napoli

Then the angels defense. Probably the other way around, but I guess we have to choose one.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

Napoli

Terrible stick, terrible glove, terrible arm – can’t be a worse overall contribution.

by PitPerc on Jul 6, 2008 7:35 AM PDT reply actions

Naps

I’ve always been, and still am, a huge Napoli fan, but, lately he’s been stinking up the field. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have any decent catchers on a team managed by one of the greatest of all time.

by ScottD00 on Jul 6, 2008 8:17 AM PDT reply actions

Napoli

I have never seen catchers make more errors throwing the ball than these two catchers we have, it’s almost hard to watch.

Soth is a close second for a questionable lineup card again. Continuing to play lousy veterans like Matthews (a la Steve Finley) instead of giving Rivera a shot. Sure, bring GMJ in for his defense late…but give me a break.

I know Kendrick is great batting later in the lineup, but Izturis isn’t a 3rd spot hitter. PUT KOTCHMAN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t say it anymore…

This is driving me crazy. By the way, I think we just had another throwing error.

Blame was on the defense last night, 4 errors. Geez

Where I am still waiting for Howie to take another base on balls
