Dustin Nippert threw a seven-inning no-hitter Sunday, helping Triple-A Oklahoma beat Omaha 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader. Nippert (6-2), who passed through waivers unclaimed less than a month ago, struck out five and walked two. The Texas Rangers prospect won for the first time in his last four starts.
The 6-foot-8-inch right-hander was 1-2 with a 16.62 ERA in six relief appearances with Texas before going on the disabled list April 22 because of a foot injury.

He is immature; it was a MAIN REASON why he wasn’t on the club the entire season last year. Given that would be approximately the time he impregnated his girlfriend to whom he is not married, and combined that with that he clearly takes his Catholic faith seriously (note his AFOREMENTIONED tattoo), he doesn’t seem like the type of consistent, level-headed person that should be rearing a child.

First off
Santana WAS on the team last year. The reason he wasn’t for a while had to do with baseball problems and nothing to do with immaturity. Second, how do you know he isn’t married? Are you stalking him? Third, what evidence do you have that he is not level-headed or takes risks? I’m going to pre-emptively answer this by postulating you don’t have any.
You know NOTHING ABOUT this person except what you read and hear. How can you possibly believe yourself qualified to judge his ability to be a parent?

from below, he chose to pitch a baseball game rather than be with his significant other delivering his first child.
That does not scream level-headed to me.
Secondly, his inability to cope with losing or even not getting certain calls are what sent him down. He exhibited immaturity along with immense talent, and thusly was sent down to hone his skills and possibly pick up some humility.
Thirdly, they said his girlfriend, that’s what I’m going on.

You don’t know anything about him. Yeah, he gets mad at calls. Lackey STILL gets mad at calls. He chose to go out and do what brings in the money rather than be there and—mostly be in the way from what I’ve seen of Dads in operating rooms.
And what humility? All he picked up was not to let things get to him and to keep making his pitches regardless. His key to success this year has been, in his own words, “Don’t give no credit to nobody.”
You know NOTHING about him as a human being. He is 25 and an adult, with plenty of means to support a child. He is more than qualified to be a parent by any objective standard I can think of.

Saunders’ wife, Shanel, is due to give birth Monday. Saunders is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday in Texas, with another start in the final game before the break Sunday. If the baby is not born before Tuesday, Saunders expects to make his scheduled start. But if Shanel goes into labor before then, Saunders said he would ask for permission to leave the team and join her for the birth.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said the team would accommodate Saunders.
“Of course,” Scioscia said. “Baseball’s important but I think when you’re starting a family, nothing’s more important than that.”
