Hunter

Breaking out of it. Hopefully he keeps this up. If he does, this team is just going to get better in the 2nd half.

Fangraphs sez

Torii Hunter, though not by much. Tonight’s was a team effort. Golden Raspberry to GMJ.

Witty .sig goes here.

Decent Game overall, great to see the offense this HOT!

Torii for sure… but nod to Kotchman for the good D that saved us alot of runs.

by lesserknown on Jul 7, 2008 8:09 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'd say Torii all the way

Congrats on the 2 homers.

Was I the only one in the big inning for the Rangers furious that they walked Bradley with a 3-2 slider with a 7 run lead when Santana was throwing 99 mph? I didn’t mind the homeruns nearly as much as that damn walk. If he hits a 99 mph fastball tip your cap and move on. Troy Percival made a living throwing 99mph 90% of his pitches.

I went with Mathis

just for knocking Ramirez over in the 8th (even if M.R. did hold onto the ball)

IMO

I know it’s heat of the moment and its a split second decision but I think he’d been better off with a slide. Ramirez had just gotten the ball and it wasn’t a given he’d been able to tag him before Mathis touched the plate. But I don’t think I’d want Mathis bowling over a catcher with the game on the line against the A’s right now. If he gets injured….. Ryan Budde is going to be the starting catcher and I don’t even know who the backup would be.

Saunders may miss tomorrow's start...

his first child, a baby girl was due today…waiting for call from wife at anytime…we may have an emergency starter tomorrow! Who will start in his place if he has to go west…what happens if he is pitching and she calls…? :((

My guess would be Jered on three days rest

then Saunders in Jered’s spot.

or we could trade for Jaime Burke

If he only gave up 1 run per inning like he did for the M’s the Angels would have a fighting chance.

by MH252525 on Jul 7, 2008 8:31 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

hell let OLIVER get the start........

the pen is pretty rested lately…....we have enough guys to get the job done with out using jered on short rest.

not worried

first babies are notoriously late. mine was born 5 days past his due date.

I'm not superstitious, but I'm a little stitious.

My first

Was a week early. Ticked off my parents to no end, because the had rescheduled an Alaska cruise so as not to miss the scheduled arrival.

My mom had to make do with a faxed copy of the (very bad) hospital pic till they got back.

Great win!

Memo to Scoscia: bench GMJ! Now! Play Johnny Rivers every day. He is a better player. In every way.

as much as i hate the GMJ bashing

or bashing anyone who wears the halo jersey, i gotta agree with you. he’s gotta be last on the OF depth chart right now. play juanito!

I don't like it much either.

And I try not to root against him while he’s in our uni. But Juan’s a better player, and always has been. He needs to start getting some real ABs.

It's the worst when he's hitting

ahead of Howard. I hate the Soth a little more each day he makes a lineup like that.

Eh.

Sosh has his downsides, but overall, he’s still the best in baseball at managing, and I wouldn’t trade him for anybody.

Yea, I love him very much.

It just irks me, though I’m sure it does us all.

Not

In defense, switch hitting, or speed. However, I do like Rivera.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

by vladtheimpaler on Jul 8, 2008 3:41 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Rivera once led the NL in OF assists

and he only played half the season. Also, did you see him one hop Kendrick from the outfield corner to help nail that guy at the plate on Sunday?

How strong can he be if he one hopped to the cut off man?

But let’s say he’s got a strong arm? He’s got mediocre movement. He’s better than Vladdy but I don’t know if he much better than GA. HGH is more athletic with a rocket for an arm.

I’m not saying that justifies keeping him in the lineup. It certainly doesn’t justify putting him at DH. When you look at the balance between offense and defense, the defense is WAY ahead. I think it makes sense to compromise a little defense to get a lot more offense.

INTERNET TOUGH GUYS from Lone Star Ball:

from the end of their game thread,

Adam J. Morris- The real story from this game: “When it comes to Jeff Mathis, the story ends with putting one in his earhole.”

ghtd36- “He’s going to get a Matt Harrison pitch in his ear tomorrow.”

Gdawg1- “Then shoving his bat up his butthole.”

Sore losers. Ha, ha ,ha, like I’m sure Jeff is shaking in his boots right now. We don’t call him “Shotgun” for nothing. Just try to catch him off his guard. Ain’t going to happen, the Rangers should just try to focus on throwing the ball at all without recording all those errors.

by 44FAN on Jul 7, 2008 9:59 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Is it just a coincidence...

that the guy we consider the worst performing Angel in the line-up (GMJ) is a former Ranger? Chew on that for a while guys.

Let no joyful voice be heard! Let no man look up at the sky with hope! And let this day be cursed by we who ready to wake... the K-Rod!

For the second straight game I vote for Mathis

If I didn’t know any better, I think he’s earning a little respect from Halo Heaven bloggers

that covers the disrespect of Mathis? It’s a fashionable thing to do …
