According to this article, Reagins is happy with the club (as always) and not looking to trade. In other news, the grass is green. Also, Vlad will not be in the HR derby after all. Good news.

Not too suprised or upset

Though I was kinda hoping that we would’ve done along the lines of an Izturis & Willits & minor leaguer for Matt Kemp deal so I could rub Colletti’s idiocy in my roommate’s face.

Glad to hear that Vlad will take the rest and stage personal homerun derbys in stadiums throughout the AL.

I was noticing how green the grass was watching the game the other day. It must be my new Plasma from Howard’s.

I'm in the market and was trying to decide...

between LCD and plasma. I cannot figure out the difference.

by Downing Rules on Jul 8, 2008 1:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Plasma v LCD

Plasma usually will give you richer blacks and thus better contrast than an LCD. They also don’t suffer as much viewing angle problems as LCD screens will. In general a Plasma will have overall better color than an LCD.

LCD’s usually have higher resolution, though not much is broadcast at that resolution so this is fairly negligable. LCDs are also usually a bit cheaper and not as suceptible to Screen Burn In as Plasma’s are. I think LCDs are also supposed to last longer than Plasmas are.

The technology is still developing pretty quickly, but it seems that generally the debate comes down to Image Quality (Plasma) versus Longevity (LCD).

by TheTypingFiend on Jul 8, 2008 2:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Also...

Image refresh rates are better on plasma. fewer ghosts in fast-action high, contrast video images.

To add to the viewing angle issues of LCD, not only do they lose image brightness and focus faster when going side-to-side, but they are REALLY problematic when going up and down. This could be a problem if you are mounting your screen on a wall, and it needs to be elevated. Make sure to observe your potential LCD system from ALL viewing angles you will be using in your room.

If you plan

on hooking your computer to it as well, lcd is probably a better choice. Plasma still has phosphor and as such is susceptible to burn in. I have my computer hooked up to it, but I’m super protective to ensure that I never leave a static image on the screen.

meh... i kinda expected this

i still think we’re one piece short of the puzzle, but hopefully, they’ll prove me wrong.
it’s hard to cry for a bat, considering the recent offensive output, but somehow, i don’t think they’ll be able to keep this up too much longer.

i don’t know. i guess i’m indifferent.

maybe i need to see the game through a new flat-screen TV from Howard’s.

Again, why would he say anything different?

Yeah, you always have to take this stuff with a grain of salt.

Only an idiot goes out and says “I’m desperately looking for help and will give up these pieces to get it.” And Tony Reagins is not Ned Colletti.

Rosenthal

Killed the Dodger front office on the Dan Patrick show today. It was great.

He says after the non waiver trade deadline he is going to write and article about them.

They bailed on a Sabathia deal.

Tight lipped

I choose to hold out hope. No one saw the Garland or Hunter deals coming. The Angels office seems to ike to cloak itself in standpatism. You never know if an opportunity will present itself that they cannot pass up.

I swear, if one more person tells me to "work smarter, not harder"...

I kinda like his attitude

I don’t see a reason to rush into things. If anything, I hope Rivera replaces GMJ on a permanent basis.

by infant on Jul 8, 2008 1:06 PM PDT reply actions

That would be a great trade.

I do think we’d have to pay out the rest of GMJ’s contract though.

by TheTypingFiend on Jul 8, 2008 1:57 PM PDT up reply actions

I thought we already solved our offensive problems by signing GMJ and Torii Hunter.

If this is true, I am relieved that we’re not going to be stuck with another mistakenly evaluated “big bat.”

I don’t have much faith in a front office that believes GMJ is a productive hitter, that Torii Hunter is one of the better hitters in the league, that Macir Izturis is a middle of the lineup guy, that Juan Rivera belongs on the bench so that GMJ and GA are in the lineup, and that Napoli doesn’t deserve regular playing time whether at C or DH.

Oh Jeez your right...

If we keep this up we will never escape the celler and catch the Mariners!

by Wytelitning on Jul 8, 2008 2:21 PM PDT up reply actions

What? No Shoeless Joe From Hannibal, Mo?

What thunderous bat is available at a price the Halos could afford to pay without…
- breaking up the nucleus of one of the winningest teams in baseball,
- requiring players to agree to waive NT clauses, and/or
- gutting the minor league system of the half dozen decent prospects remaining?

I have not heard any factual, documented and corroborated details of any team wanting to gift us any offense. So, in that light, we gotta make use of what we already have. And even if that were NOT the case, I wouldn’t be jacking up the price we have to pay by crying about it in public anyway.

Violates condition #1.

Barry moves in to a clubhouse with his own entourage, reading lamp, recliner, rules of conduct, etc. I cannot imagine that baggage working in a Mike Scioscia locker room.

by Stirrups on Jul 8, 2008 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Disappointed

that Reagins won’t call Ned Colletti, who it appears would be quite willing to gift wrap Matt Kemp in exchange for a major league shortstop. The Dodgers are taking a long look at Jack Wilson, for crying out loud. Izturis and Aybar are both far superior players. Though I’m glad the Angels have them both, I would be happy to see one of them traded (and really, I don’t care which one) if the Dodgers are selling Matt Kemp. Heck, let them have Willits or Rivera as well, as neither of them is going to get regular playing time with the Angels, no matter how much they deserve it over the mediocrity that is GMJr.

President Bush? Is that you?

You have a wire tap on Coletti and Reagins’ phone lines, now, too? Jeez!

In all seriousness jj, how do you know that call was not made?

by Downing Rules on Jul 8, 2008 3:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Granted

I have no idea. We do know that the Angels’ front office is pretty airtight, but rumors seem to leak out of Chavez Ravine like oil from my neighbor’s 1987 Chevy Spectrum, so I have a feeling we’d have heard about it if it happened.
