i just want to clarify that 3 innings was all that they were hoping for. with 2 pitchers going on the dl in 2 days and the bullpen rested they decided to go with a bullpen combined start rather than call up an emergency starter.
they were hoping for 3 from madrigal. hes a short reliever not a starter. though he may have gone 4 if a couple of plays had been made behind him.

Texas averages 5.46 runs per game. Weave just hit the halfway mark with only 1 run allowed. That’s an ERA of under 2 for this game. That’s way better than twice as good, almost 3 times better, then the rest of the league pitches against these same hittters.
