*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Lazy GA is an old, old old one
Because he looks a bit lazy, he runs with an economical style, but everyone loves him. It’s a total inside Angels joke.
Blue Smoke is a new one. Torii Hunter said in a post-game interview that “Garret Anderson was running so fast after that one it looked like there was blue smoke coming out of his behind” (Everyone on Halos Heaven picked up on it).
Don't call me Desmond
by highlandhalo on Aug 10, 2008 1:15 PM PDT up reply actions
It's also about how GA makes it look so easy
That he hardly looks like he’s trying. The Optimist is right, some people get mean-spirited about the inside joke, but mostly the “If GA wasn’t so lazy …” thing is a thing of love and respect.

Highland pretty much nailed it.
Though I’ve seen comments about Garrets laziness that didn’t sound like they were joking.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Blue Smoke
“I was playing [Mora] so far over and [Garret] looked at me like, ‘You gonna get it?’ ” Hunter said. “I’m like, ‘No.’ We were looking at each other, talking with our eyes. I was shading him over to right-center. Garret had jets up his [back]. I saw blue smoke coming out. It was pretty sweet.”
"i got 5ive on it"
Jets up his ASS
I saw blue smoke coming out.
One of the greatest Angels quotes ever. Countered the whole lazy thing effectively as well.

Angels baseball!
This is the stuff that few fans get: the pressure baseball of the Sosh attack system does more to the defense than people realize, and mroe than sliderules can measure.
Commentators rarely pull apart the Angels offense and reveal this in their analysis.
Francisco Rodriguez: 191 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
good point, yes the Angels consistently put pressure on the other team's defense
so we see things that look like random breaks but often the Angels caused them
Angels in 08!
You see it in person if you watch the defense.
When the Angels put a runner on base, the entire defense shifts. Every player in the field makes some motion, either to get into a new position to be ready for what happen next, or they adjust their stance and demonstrate more alertness. They relocate, they signal to one another, they look around, the pitcher slows down a little, the catcher looks to the dugout more often.
Sosh reminds me of what smart coaches in kid’s leagues know. To wit: that the defense is not as skillfull as the offense gives them credit for being, so run on them and force them to make their plays. Too often big leaguers will yield to a defender and honor that defender’s reputation. Over time, is it still merited? Nobody knows. Nobody, except Sosh. Sosh makes that defender re-earn that reputation. Defenders know that. Defenders worry. Sosh is inside their heads.
Francisco Rodriguez: 191 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
yes, for example, just watch another major league team and you will see how often the Angels go
first to third—I see the Rockies on TV on a daily basis and I’m amazed how they don’t go first to third on hits the Angels would regularly do so.
Angels in 08!

Only back in the dugout.
I would go left on a line right at 2B, which cut grounders off well in front of SS. So I never collided with SS in the field, but I all too often snagged balls the SS wanted. When we would get back to the dugout the SS would get in my face about taking his chances.
Francisco Rodriguez: 191 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
You had a hardcore SS!
They were all mine too, btw :) F—-ing stone-hands 3B guys.
I played in a game at 3B once against USC though and dude smoked a line drive at me. One of only 3 or 4 career appearances at 3B. I was in close to guard against the bunt. And SPANG! Ball was in in my glove. So I know how you feel about 3B nightmares dude.

~Till the Halo burns out...
looked to me like figgy caught the throw half a foot ahead of where A-Rods hand was going
and in the time it took to move his glove back, A-Rods hand got in and Figgy tagged him on his forearm
He didn't have to move it at all though.
The hand was going right under his glove and it looks like it brushes it on the way in.
~Till the Halo burns out...
his hand was in easily

Nah. Figgins glove was right there, the ball arrives before his fingers reach.
Chone didn’t have to move his glove at all. The throw was that good.
~Till the Halo burns out...
disagree
replay shows his right hand on the bag before figgins moves the glvoe far enough back to touch him

I don't think so.
The fingers hadn’t reached the bag yet. I’ll look again when they put it on gameday, but he looked out.
It was an incredible throw either way, and umps tend to give you those when it’s close.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Safe. Frame by frame on TiVo shows hand on base before glove touches arm.
Francisco Rodriguez: 191 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
why is this still being debated?

"Here we go baby, 'bout f***'n' time!"

I hate how GA catches those balls,
I’m always worried they’re going over his head and he’s just watching.

K-Rod is already passing on the way of the Halos closer
as it was taught to him by Troy Percival.

that changeup is his best pitch by FAR right now
http://inplaynoouts.blogspot.com/ - A blog about teams I like, written by me.
yea i think he's hiding an injury
he doesn’t want to throw his slider at all much anymore
Or he figured out people are sitting on it so he throws the change instead.
~Till the Halo burns out...
that's great in theory
but he has to lay it down.

Why haven't they just released the bum yet
Does he have to hit under 200?
In GMJ's defense, he already had a decent game, but yeah
that sucked.

Make that 2-0 in K-Rod's favor.
1-0 last week in New York. Rivera loss, Frankie sits them 1-2-3. Today, Frankie sits them 1-2-3. Rivera on the mound for the game-losing hit.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Ahhh OK
Not so sure that is a fair evaluation for M. Rivera with todays game. I know one thing though ANGELS WINNER
