at screwing up a threat.
Francisco Rodriguez: 192 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
I think that DP is all on Soth
That was not a point in the game to bunt. It’s still too early to be playing for one run as Weaver could give up 3 in the bottom half. Figgy is not a good bunter as mentioned and with a runner on first there is a big whole on the right side that he could have aimed for and if he hits it to the right side it’s VERY hard to turn a double play. And even if they force Mathis then Figgy is on first with the opportunity to steal against Shoppach who throws out like 14% of baserunners this year.

The Hunt for a Red October ...and please keep telling Clutch to chill!
Was there any that Lackey was learning?
People are way too far down on Weaver for what is still a decent season.
~Till the Halo burns out...
I don't think it's a maturation issue as much as a stuff issue
Lackey has a better fastball, WAY better curve, and a better 2 seamer
There are people with much worse stuff than Weaver who have been just fine.
Stuff isn’t as important as control. Also, people underrate Weaver’s fastball.

get vlad in front of tex, please
http://inplaynoouts.blogspot.com/ - A blog about teams I like, written by me.
Lee is a great pitcher
but the Angels being such free swingers is not helping. The only guy really doing anything against him is Tex who forces people to throw strikes. Rivera hit his homer on Lee trying to get ahead in the count.
Hey, a HR's a HR.
Don’t take that away from Juan.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
I'm not taking it away
Just saying that Lee is the kind of pitcher that does well against the Angels.
Becuase it's his first career start?
And he throws junk?
Francisco Rodriguez: 192 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
yea I don't have a problem with Rivera at all
I’m just saying they’d probably be better off taking a few more pitches rather than going after the first thing they see
It looks like he's always been pretty bad in that department.
Though he’s going to set a career high this year (previous high was 24, he’s at 23 now).

I blame Tex for getting on base so much
Francisco Rodriguez: 192 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
well he also probably has the most chances.
Batting in front of Tex who is on base a lot and even Izzy who gets on 1B a lot
He's always done it a lot
his slow, bad start to this season combined with the fact that he’s always done it has just made it that much worse this year.
I think a lot of it has to do with how sharply he hits the ball. He never hits little dribblers or soft grounders, so it’s always easy to get him doubled up.

Jeter is actually, kind of surprisingly, a big-strike out guy
and he led off or hit second for a large part of his career.
He’s going to have struck out 9 of his 13 full seasons by the end of this year…with 3 other seasons of exactly 99 Ks. And 25% of his career plate appearances are batting 1st. Just an assload of ground balls…must have killed the Yanks a lot when he was batting second in a game and erased the lead runner.

doom-mongering is not complaining about one bad bullpen decision
we can lose this game, and probably most of the future ones, and still make the playoffs. If I can’t decry a terrible bullpen decision, then what’s the point of a game thread?

Two, three years? A sudden decline was sorta in the realm of possibility. Besides, it’s only one game.
