Long Comments
Call me unsophisticated or ADD or whatever, but some of the comments on this site are reaching jackasstronomical lengths. I don't have time to read a 700+ word comment to a post! It seems to me like we've got a number of budding novelists here, and to them I say: Go write a book! I'd love to read it when I'm not on the Internet.
Don't get me wrong -- I love HH for its variety of opinion and interesting points of view on all things in the Halosphere. And I'm sure there are some very well-thought-out rationales for certain opinions. I just don't have the patience to read all six paragraphs of it.
And I certainly do not condone censorship outside of the rules of play here, but perhaps some self-censorship -- rather, self-editing, more specifically -- may be in order. More folks will be more likely to read it, then.
This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan and may or may not be a reflection of human evolution, divine enlightenment or nine cans into a 12-pack.

i try to keep my comments mostly short
but sometimes i find myself getting wordy and writing too much.
for that, i apologize.
but you’re right… there’s people that post longer comments than me. And most of the time, i read the first line or two, then pass it on by.

I know what you're talking about, but I usually have my finger on the scrolling thingy on my mouse, and I use it to go past comments I don't want to read.
I too don’t have time to read a 700 word comment, and that’s why I don’t(unless it has to do with made up baseball comedy movies. In that case, i’ll read it a few times).
Whatever dude.

I WOULD LIKE LONG COMMENTS TO BE THERE OWN FANPOSTS. BEST THING ABOU THIS BLOG IS THE FANPOST HEADLINES TELL YOU WHAT YOU WILL BE READING. OTHER ANGEL BLOGS HAVE STUPID HEADLINES LIKE “MUST READ ANGEL NEWS” AND THEN SOME STUPID SHIT POST LIKE “LACKEY IS OUR ACE” ABSOLUTE STUPID.

Your idea = Too many fanposts. In a lot of cases, several points need to be made in response to comments or topics.
Paragraphs do help. So does restraint, and brevity.

Ever seen the film "Amadeus?"
This kind of reminds me of something the character of Emeror Joseph II says to Mozart; something to the effect of “it was a fine symphony, but it had too many notes in it.”

yeah, but we're not talking Mozart here
in most cases, we’re talking about Mariah Carey and her penchant for trying to prove she can sing by fitting as many notes in a phrase as possible, without regard for the song as a whole.

I've got it!
The soundtrack to “Switch Hit” should be post-humously composed by Mozart!

I don't mind long comments, as long as they are well written
It usually becomes immediately apparent if this is the case. If you can’t stand long posts, skip ’em.
Who cares?

I am preparing my dissertation in defense of the Amadeus right now...
But for YWC, the readability version is included here:
Amadeus. Goooooood.

We can all live together in perfect harmony
What we’re missing is the feature where if you have something long to say, it has a more button that it opens up. Youtube has it for descriptions. That way you can split up your comment between a short intro and a long body.
If the intro tantalized the reader, the intellectual depths can be plumbed. If not, screw it and move on. You don’t have to open the envelope.
If GA wasn't so lazy the Halos woulda won the 2008 WS by now.

Call me unsophisticated,
but why are there so many polls on this site. There are so many they are reaching fucktardasstonomical. I don’t have time to vote for 700+ different choices. It seems like their are a number of curious fans and to them I say: Fuck that, I got drunk at a tractor pull last night.

YWC if you see a long post
just read it as being 42
Because skipping one ain’t the end of the world
by eyespy on Aug 15, 2008 9:06 PM PDT 0 recs
I've skipped most of the comments in this post
mostly because I don’t care what you have to say. I’ll assume many of you have done the same.
There’s really only a few folks who tragically cross the line of artful pithiness into the void of droning lecturing (COUGHZULONGCOUGH) but even then, I chose to skip their comments unless it garners significant attention from other people.
by shiftyeyedgoat on Aug 16, 2008 12:44 PM PDT 0 recs
let them write as long as they want...
I will surely exercise my right to skip right over the long comments, though.

I’ve visited there a few times. Very beautiful in the country. Most of the people were very nice… most.
