"Ryan Garko graduated from Stanford University," just ask him.

That was funny by the Indians catcher announcing the roster today.

Former Angel Sal Fasano

Caught 2 innings in Septemebr 2002 and got a ring.

His claim to fame was tying Frankie’s necktie on roadtrips an finally teaching K-Rod to tie a tie.

by Rev Halofan on Aug 16, 2008 1:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Good story. I remember that about GA too

when I used to cover the team. On getaway days GA already had his tie knotted already knotted up in his locker. I guess GA’s wife used to tie his tie for him before he left the house.

Some guys don't know how to do it!

Myself, I’m an ace. Get it just right first time, every time, exactly a 1/4 inch below the top of the belt buckle and a perfect half-Windsor with a nice dimple. I’m really proud of myself for that. Props to me.

That’s pretty good.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 16, 2008 1:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Hitting and running would involve hitting the ball the other way to be effective, at least most of the time.

That was to the shortstop. For all we know, it WAS a hit and run. Given Naps’ tendency to take two strikes before offering at something, I’d even say it’s likely.

Whether Kendry or Juancho should get 1B if Tex leaves. Just wondered your opinion :)

Don't call me Desmond

by highlandhalo on Aug 16, 2008 1:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Kendry at 1B.....Juancho should take over LF and let buy out Anderson.

Wood can play SS/3B

DH rotates with Juancho, Wood, Vlad, Hunter.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Aug 16, 2008 2:03 PM PDT up reply actions

SS/2B/DH

I would go with…..
Aybar SS
Kendrick 2B
Morales 1B
Guerrero RF
Hunter CF
Rivera LF
Wood 3B
Rodriguez DH
Napoli C

When Mathis Catches give Naps the Start at DH over Rodriguez unless he is on fire. If we keep Figgins around then he bats leadoff and Rodriguez gets bumped out of the lineup and backs up 2B/SS and OF.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Aug 16, 2008 2:08 PM PDT up reply actions

He probably is but he will need some time to adjust in Bigs.

You dont wanna put too much pressure on the kids so let them play at the bottom of the order until they start crushin the ball.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Aug 16, 2008 2:14 PM PDT up reply actions

No I meant with Figgins in the lineup.

I think Rodriguez would be the better bet to give playing time to, long term.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 16, 2008 2:16 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh I see.

but long term I dont think figgins will be here. Next year the if Figg is still here then S-Rod and Aybar should split the time.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Aug 16, 2008 2:20 PM PDT up reply actions

Personally, I think it's more likely Aybar gets traded for pitching depth this offseason.

He’s going to be a hot commodity, and we have a ton of depth at SS. We could probably get a decent-good pitcher for him.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 16, 2008 2:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Agreed

Soth loves pitching depth. Plus I think next year is the year Wood makes it.

Don't call me Desmond

by highlandhalo on Aug 16, 2008 2:25 PM PDT up reply actions

I would trade Izutris over Aybar but thats me.

Aybar is younger and he is hitting better than Izturis. All Aybar has to work on is hitting with RISP

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Aug 16, 2008 2:27 PM PDT up reply actions

That, and the errors.

But Aybar’s superior value is why he gets traded. Izturis will never be much more than great backup IF. Aybar is a starting SS, though not, IMO, one as good as S-Rod (or Wood, whichever one) will become. That’s why I’m saying trade him. It’s not that I don’t think he’s good, it’s that I think S-Rod will be better AND his value will be really high.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 16, 2008 2:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I would keep Aybar cuz once figgins is gone

he will be the only one with above average speed.

S-Rod is fast but not Aybar Fast.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Aug 16, 2008 2:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Yup.

But I’m not sure Figgins is going anywhere. .380 OBP leadoff guys don’t grow on trees. Aybar is fast but he’s never really mastered the whole “base-stealing” thing. We’d still have Izturis and Willits.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 16, 2008 2:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Total agreement. Desmond isn't exactly old either ...

He’s only 30, OBPs tend to go up with age, and fast guys like him really don’t tend to get slow overnight. I’m not saying Desmond is Rickey Henderson or anything, but I can see him with the Angels for quite a while, even in LF …

Don't call me Desmond

by highlandhalo on Aug 16, 2008 2:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Same here. As long as he gets on base like he has been and has decent speed

he’s among the top leadoff guys in the MLB. If you believe his hamstring problems have seriously hampered him there’s a chance that he has a season closer to his 2007-post May.
