I don't follow team news like I used to

Is Vlad hurt? Why are they not starting him this series? Why is Q starting?

GMJ and Q are the two worst position players on the team….

by MH252525 on Aug 26, 2008 7:10 PM PDT   0 recs

The Soth wants to rest Vlad's legs

Vlad will probably be rested again tomorrow.

Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

vlad's tired

GA’s knees are sore
Morales got sent down for bulger
Willits didn’t get brought back up because of bulger

GMJ needs to tweak his knee and end his season early

by joeyz34 on Aug 26, 2008 7:13 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

without me too..

last year, lots of wins… (i don’t think it hurt that we went to pretty much every one of escobar’s starts)

this year’s been brutal whenever it’s my turn in the rotation :(

1974

This game is like watching the California Angels of 1974

Whens Dave Chalk going to be back in the line up? Is Bruce Bochte available?

Rudy May

and as my sister’s boyfriend used to say “but Rudy might not!”

by Rev Halofan on Aug 26, 2008 7:28 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

How about Paul Schall or Rudy Meoli.

I always liked the name Paul Schall…it had a nice rhythm.

While we are waiting for something to happen....

Does anyone know when (if ever) the league stats get combined for guys like Tex and Manny who are traded mid-season?

For ex: if a guy ends up with the most RBIs combined, is he recognized as ANY league leader end of season??

by SocalAngelFaninOC on Aug 26, 2008 7:25 PM PDT   0 recs

Nope

No, they don't combine stats.

In fact, an odd situation happened in 1990. Willie McGee was leading the NL in BA with a .335 average when he was traded to the A’s in August. He had enough ABs to qualify for the NL title, so his avg. was essentially “frozen”. Including his A’s stats, McGee hit .324 and actually trailed Dodger Eddie Murray and his .330 average. But because stats aren’t combined, McGee won the NL batting title.

Big zone tonight.

by Zu Long on Aug 26, 2008 7:29 PM PDT   0 recs

This crap pitcher has an 87mph fastball

In Little League they’d tell you to crowd the zone and force him to throw inside. The Angels seem content to go the other way though.

I love it when Terry Smith goes OUTTA HERE

One Game at a time the Mike Scioscia way.

by deejayelleseven on Aug 26, 2008 7:35 PM PDT   0 recs

Probably why it's best for people to not comment on games they aren't watching

Gubby talking about the Mets bullpen blowing a 7-0 lead in Philly to make it 7-6…the Mets starter gave up 5 of those runs.

Just an aside.

why isnt mathis starting ?

Yeah guess they could have lost 2-0 as easily as 1-0 yesterday

at least if Naps hits it there is a chance of a run, and he mixes in his walks……..hated the pinch hit AB Sunday also

Are you serious?

Napoli’s OPS is almost 200 points higher. Basically you are saying Hunter isn’t much better than Q.

by MH252525 on Aug 26, 2008 7:41 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

that's the problem of the internet

I took it as a sarcastic comment bashing Naps. I’m sorry!

In your defense though, Mathis is more clutch than Naps.

.998 OPS with RISP vs .951 OPS coming into tonight.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 26, 2008 7:47 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

they are both awesome w/ runners in scoring position

But I know you know that “clutch” varies from year to year a LOT!

by MH252525 on Aug 26, 2008 7:48 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I know, I just felt like he needed some help.

At this point, I feel like Mathis has had his shot. He had sole control of the catching position for a month and didn’t do anything with it. Let’s see if Naps can do something.

~Till the Halo burns out...

by Zu Long on Aug 26, 2008 7:50 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I am a big Naps supporter but I still like Mathis long-term

Naps I think could hit 25-30 homers if he played 110 games a year.

Mathis has had like 3 very solid months for a catcher but 2 months where he’s hit like a pitcher. Hopefully he’ll gain consistency, I mean this is really his first full time job catching. Of course I think we can both hope that Conger makes it a moot point ;)

by MH252525 on Aug 26, 2008 7:53 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

We'll see. He's kind of a DH right now.

I have higher hopes for Bobby Wilson though. That guy has a pretty decent swing and good plate control, though not the power of the other guys.

Why are we marching out this lineup of rejects again?

Wasn’t it pathetic looking enough LAST night?
