Bob Timmermann at The Griddle points out that the Mariners' division elimination number is now one (one Angels victory or one loss by the Mariners). They will be the first team eliminated from any division race; the current standings show the 47-85 Nationals with a worse record than Seattle (50-82), but the spread in the NL East is tighter.

Remember when they were a trendy first-place pick?

Now they’re going to be mathematically eliminated in August.

Awesome.

What's better:

that the Mariners are going to be eliminated so early in the season

or

that we can all say “I told you so” and “I saw it coming?”

And for one whole year:

“Follow King Felix and the 2008 AL WEST CHAMPION Seattle Mariners all season long at Lookout Landing”

Revenge, as it turns out, is a dish best served by your opponent, on himself.

Francisco Rodriguez: 196 career saves. 3 career Panthers, 1/3 as awesome as GMJ.

And how many games were we supposed to win?

86?

Per usual their prediction sucks

Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

I'm looking forward to yet another article explaining what happened this year to throw them off so badly.

The Angels always get one, and it’s always hysterical.

BTW, my mistake, it was 88 not 86. The Angels have averaged 7 games over their predicted finish for the past five years, which would put us at 95 wins. Personally though, I think we can beat that mark. The Central division is going to completely obliterate the PECOTA predictions though. The Twins have already beaten their 71 wins, the ChiSox have already matched their 77 predicted win total while the Indians and Tigers are unlikely to sniff the 90 wins they were both predicted to have.

To all the Angel fans

Whoever complained about management and what we have been trying to accomplish (A balanced team in every aspect that can compete year after year), I give you the rest of the AL West.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

It's official!

Mariners lose 6-5, mathematically eliminated — in August.

Do you realize how hard that is?

I think the M's can still pull it off

I also think Santa brought me that new pair of socks last year.

And this is a picture of my hot wife and her sister (my wife is on the right)

Don't they still have some mathematical chance at the AL wild card?
