"What really stands out, when you've got Vlad and Teixeira back-to-back in the same lineup, is what [Teixeira] isn't....Let's put it this way: I know which one I fear, and it isn't him. To me, when you see truly great players, they always have that extra edge, that killer instinct. Well, if this guy has it, he doesn't project it. Hey, he's a good player, obviously. But is he a guy who's going to legitimately carry a club for the money he's asking [for a new contract in the offseason]? I don't see that."

Red Sox Propaganda
designed to take Hank Steinbrenner off the scent.

I think our U-Haul nickname for Teixeira and all of its connotations
has filtered into the stream of consciousness of baseball officials. This could work in our favor.

So he doesn't boisterously proclaim in the media that he is the messiah
after every home run, and he doesn’t parade around the bases in a Yanksox Jersey, so you don’t fear him? Yeah, okay. You try throwing to the guy sometime, Stark.
You’re full of shit. There’s not a single pitcher in baseball, or in the world, who wants that man coming to the plate in ANY situation.

No Shit
getting the opportunity to watch this guy hit, every day, his approach at the plate…wow. It sure seems like he knows exactly what he’s looking for, and doesn’t miss his pitch when he gets it. And if he doesn’t, he’ll gladly take the walk. He seems equally adept from both sides of the plate. Oh, and I don’t think the Angels have missed a beat with his defense at 1B, either.
Here’s the money quote: “To me, when you see truly great players, they always have that extra edge, that killer instinct. Well, if this guy has it, he doesn’t project it.”
What does that even mean? That is to say, I speak English and I know the words in those sentences, but arranged in that manner, they really mean nothing. What, exactly, is the “extra edge” or “killer instinct,” and how does one “project” it? If it’s a look of calm determination, of a guy who’s not rattled by what’s going on…Teix sure looks like he’s got it to me. He’s one cool customer. What’s he supposed to “look” like?

I see...
So if they don’t fear him, then why has he been intentionally walked, to get to Vlad? Not just once, but at least twice?

As they say in retirement homes and church halls throughout the country
BINGO!
I assume that the “club official” isn’t one of the guys down on the field. Even when he doesn’t get the IBB, it sure seems like teams have been pitching around him & taking their chances that Vlad will GIDP.

i sense a little bit of jealousy in this statement...
"Life is a luminous halo, a semi-transparent envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end."

That by far is one of the DUMBEST things I have heard in my life
and I’ve been around a little while, and been around some “dumas” people.
