It is possible that in the end, Juan Rivera will emerge as the unlikely hero of the Angels' remainder of the season.

I don't know how unlikely ... Given that he was the in rare air in the second half of 2006 I always saw him
as being that big bat. Well now we’ve got Rivera AND a big bat in Texeira. Yummy!
If GA wasn't so lazy the Halos woulda won the 2008 WS by now.

If he continues, I would give at minimum a co-hero to Teixeira.
He has exceeded all expectations.

i dont care where he plays, to be honest...
just so long as he is in the lineup everyday.
aw, hell, why not give him a shot! last time i checked, he’s perfect at that position over his career…

No but...
one: great graphic.
two: the fact that juan got out there and played an inning at 2nd shows his commitment to this team and willingness to get playing time in anyway possible.
three: we definitely need to get him in there some way. I think rotating vlad, tori, GA and Juan with the outfield and DH is fine. So GMJ had one clutch at bat and a few decent games…not good enough to put him in the OF/DH rotation. Keep giving Juan regular playing time. And just cross our fingers that DriftWOOD picks up where he left off in AAA and that Sean Rod can keep his average above .100 for the remainder of the season.
Four: I was going to say that putting Figgy at second and the Q at 3rd every now and then is a good idea. However, after Figgy defensive show last night…maybe its best to just keep him at the hot corner.

If Sean Rodriguez keeps bringing a rubber bat to the park...
then, certainly, Juan should get a shot at 2B.
SRod has looked absolutely Brandon-Wood-esque up there hacking at breaking balls (in 2 games I’ve seen him). Brandon Wood has looked very Shea-Hillenbloop-esque up there (small sample size of last night).
Although, I’d hate to see Juan Rivera trying to turn a double play at the 2B spot.

i think we need a 2B/SS candidate
and really, Eckstein is probably going to be the easiest to get.
he’s a benchwarmer right now, he can play both positions and he’s on a one year deal.
who knows what’s going to happen…

I'm not
He has shown the ability to make emergency starts when needed. Pull a mid prospect pitcher out of AA.

oh hell no. Moseley will be more needed to rest our staff in late September than Eck will be to spell Aybar over Wood.

but when
was the last time Mosely pitched? we could easily spell them with a nick green or something.

um...Coach...the noise from the crowd must have affected my hearing...
…you want me to play WHERE?
by sothball on Aug 29, 2008 9:41 AM PDT 0 recs
Maybe not 2nd -
But can he play 3B?
That would solve a lot of problems

Best JR quote... EVER.
On being asked to play second base, Juan Rivera had this to say:
“They asked me if I wanted to play second base or third base,” Rivera said. “I told them to let me play second base because I didn’t have my cup.”
It’s always the simplest answer, isn’t it?
