The only solution for GMJ
Fire his ass, pure and simple.
Then change the locks on the clubhouse doors.
Moreno should stop paying him and sue him for all salary paid to date for misrepresenting his abilities during contract negotiations - padding his resume with HGH.
It would be better to pay a team of lawyers a million dollars per year to tie him up in court for the rest of his life.
I'm through with him forever. Get it done!

YEAH
only think i would correct is he should give all his money to tex for almost and i say almost saving his ass but just the sight in center ruins the game
Maybe we should start one of those wave things?
It brings up an interesting idea
What would happen if a team tried to sue a player to get their money back because that player padded their stats by using performance enhancers. The team signed the player under false pretenses.
I know it sounds crazy, but suing a company because their coffee is too hot sounded pretty crazy too
Write to the Angels front office. Get Tim Salmon's number 15 retired!
Absolutely
I wasn’t kidding. I think the Angels have legitimate legal grounds and would win the case.
If Arte’s lawyers can beat the City of Anaheim, they can beat a cheating liar.
Thanks Bill Stoneman, wherever you are
Journeyman has one excellent season in hitter-friendly Arlington, entices that sucker Stoneman into giving GMJ the winning lottery numbers. Immediately goes back to suckitude.
The scarlet A is on this mofo. As John Kerry would say, sometimes ya just gotta cut and run.
You ever feel as if your mind had started to erode?
We signed Juice prior to the broken leg, unfortunately.
That one was all Stoneman. Still the only truly bad move that guy ever made.

Ah you are right...
Matthews was in November, Juan Rivera was hurt just prior to Christmas.

Meaning, Stoneman was already discounting GA.
Even Stoneman lamented Juan’s broken leg, saying it was unfortunate, because he had played himself into some major playing time.
No, Stoneman was going to use Juan in the same role that GMJ has played this year:
DH/4th outfielder. GA was still going to play. We didn’t have Hunter and Reggie was an unknown quantity. We picked up Hillenbrand to try to replace Juan at DH (failed miserably).

So again
Muscle tear = injury
Injuries generally = subpar performance.
Take a look at Matthews’ stats last year prior to the injury (i.e., up until roughly late August). There were some slumps, but the power and average were fairly consistent with what the Rangers saw in ‘06. Maybe not quite as inflated an average as comes from such a hitter’s park, but up there.
I’ll again argue that GMJ should be placed on the DL for the remainder of the season and allowed to heal, maybe even forced into surgery that he clearly doesn’t want to undergo. Give him another chance when he’s at full strength next year.
If he’s hitting .220 or below-with a legitimate number of at bats-on July 1, 2009, THEN DFA him.
Light Up That Halo!
then injury should = DL TIME TO GET IT FIXED!!!!
playing injured isn’t helping anyone. It’s hurting himself, and more importantly, it’s hurting the team.
i agree that he should get one more shot next year in spring training… but don’t hand him the starting job. if he wants it, he has to outperform the young guys.
Mike Scioscia: He provides to unlike method of your team member.
Right
The main issue here seems to be that Gary won’t go on the DL. Pretty surprising given what else I’ve heard about his personality/presence from friends who have met him…I think it’s more of a matter of GMJ, like Sosh, being in some sort of haze in which they can’t recognize that the only way he’s going to make a truly positive contribution to this team at this point is to heal his injury—NOT by playing.
Light Up That Halo!
Sounds logical to me....
I just dont like being reminded of Steve Finley everytime I see him though…
good post Clutch
i don’t hate GMJ as much as everyone here but even i can’t defend someone who’s clearly struggling and insists on playing. if he wants to play for a few more years he should take care of his knees now….even though i don’t know how productive he will be in the future.
fortunately, i missed the whole game yesterday.
Can a player refuse to go on the DL?
There is a procedure described in the Basic Agreement that seems to be straightforward. If he’s admitting to an injury, and it’s backed up by a valid medical diagnosis, how can GMJ refuse to go on the DL? Given the obvious diminution in his abilities, why is the team indulging him? It’s not as if they don’t have others to fill his role more effectively than he is in his injured condition.
". . .and the young lions will lock horns!" -- Ron Fairly, from an Angels telecast
That's where
Soth comes in. Seems he’s also still convinced that Gary can just “play through this” without any DL time. Time for someone to wake up!
Light Up That Halo!
That play in the outfield was poor communication and those two do not play together very often.
Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.
Kobe tell me how my ass tastes
The only solution for GMJ
is to beat him with the “S” volume of the Encyclopedia Brittanica and put him on the DL
