so tell us something we don't know
my favorite guy in all of baseball admits what we all knew...yada yada yada
And the dirty little secret is out.
"You think I’m going to bring somebody in to hit somebody and they’re going to throw a fastball 82 (mph) at the hands?” Guillen said. “I’m going to bring in my best guy and make sure he gets it done. That’s Major League Baseball. That’s baseball. That’s the baseball I grew up with. Not the (expletive) they play right now.”
He is such a brave, big strong guy.
And a huge asshole too.

Guillen is my hero.
He wants to return to game to its rush-the-pitcher, throw-at-the-crowding-batter, play-both-games-of-a-double-header, no-crying-in-baseball roots.
The game we have now is slowly but surely getting neutered of a the emotional impact by and of players, coaches, and even the fans. Players seek the almighty dollar, and play “professionally” which means there is no allegiance to a team, no loyalty. It is replaced by the detestable player who leaves as soon as he reaches free-agency to seek multi-millions, rather than play for the team that brought him to the majors.
I want to see fire and passion in a player’s eyes and form during a game. Guys like Teixiera, A-Rod, JD Drew, etc. extirpate everything enjoyable about baseball that isn’t attributed to a statistic. Give me a team of Erstads, Salmons, Jeters (for his loyalty), and they’ll bring back the true spirit of baseball.
More guys should get mad on the mound or celebrate when they get out of a tough jam; more batters should flip their bats when they hit a long bomb and drop their bats effetely to the ground when they fail to drive in the winning run.
I, personally, cherish the exuberant, hard-nosed, sometimes dirty players left in baseball. They show the imperfections of the game solely add to its glistening perfection as a sport.
