Hunter, All the way
Factor in the 9th inning double, his defense, including the one stellar catch at the wall, AND the fact that we weren’t winning without him. Welcome back big guy.
SAUNDERS should get this as Frankie wasted his #15...
Hey you! What are horse mackerel!
Hey, the chair are sailing! You believe that I am toad of the month!
(Yes, that is K-Rod's entry music, translated)
But other than that: absolutely the Hula Dula

Chekc the box score, man. The box score disagrees with you for a reason.
Tex catches the ball that Frankie forced his way, Joe gets his win, Frankie gets his save, the Halos get their win, drama over.
Francisco Rodriguez: 191 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
Tex with a near game-losing error and he's on the panther board?
What a disgrace.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Apparently not.
infant is still going apeshit over Frankie, even though ALL 4 RUNS scored while Frankie was on the mound should never have happened if Tex just does his job. (Note offical box score: 0 earned runs charged to Frankie.)
But, like, what do I know. I am biased.

saw that highlight, pretty fantastic

She really gave some love to that little guy.
I don’t think Torii can claim to be the #1 fan anymore.

Crushing loss avoided. Torii saves the day.
For 26 outs this game was on its way to being a very “Angel-type” win; all the usual elements (solid start, lights out bullpen, just enough offense and some terrfic D). It would have been such a great bounce back after yesterday’s debacle. But then one dreaded “E” happened and everything fell apart. After such a demoralizing top of the 9th it was a huge emotional lift for Torii to hit that double. And his leaping catch of Millar’s drive was a gave saver.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!
Saunders
And a big sarcastic “thank you” to the new guy for taking away win 15. Hope you didn’t cost him the cy young.
(hey, I never blast one of our players. that felt pretty good. Of course he is new).
Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.
and........
Kotch woulda had it.

Juan Rivera
He needs to start hitting pretty soon, we all almost burned down the stadium to get GMJ out and rivera in and outside of some bombs he isn’t hitting great… By no means am I saying GMJ should be back in there, but I just want Rivera to produce
Relax... Everything is fine
by Sinatrasratpack on Aug 4, 2008 10:38 PM PDT reply actions
stats say
that Rivera is hitting .278 since becoming a regular starter. For July, he was .311/.371/.623. I’d say he is hitting and producing. He’s 1/16 in August (including tonight), so that’s probably clouding your perspective. But nobody thinks he’s a .311 hitter; he is a .278 hitter, though, so I fully expect him to pick it up again over the next few days.
I was saying this during the game thread yesterday and got blasted for it, you're bold to bring it up again
Rivera is 3 for his last 26. That’s all I am saying. Look, he has earned the right to start. However, after Willits was 0-0 with 4 walks and 2 runs on Sunday- I said he earned a start on Monday.
I wasn’t saying Willits should replace Rivera permanently in the lineup, I just thought he earned a spot start.
On last night: Yeah, the team nearly blew it again. Yes, it was frustrating. You would have thought it was a playoff game with some of the posting going on. Especially in thread #3. I am glad I left after thread #2.
I wouldn’t consider opining on Willits in the lineup over Rivera to be “bitching” about the team. It was my opinion and I got lambasted by two people for it. You can disagree with me on anything, that’s fine. Just do it with some class. Don’t treat me or anyone else like an ignoramus.
What happened with Rev’s post about everyone being curteous to each other on the MB? Has nothing been learned? I think it is okay for people to disagree with others as long as the interaction and communication remains respectful.
I think there are a couple of people around here that act a little too omniscient when it comes to responding to people’s posts. I think they need to lighten up. You can disagree with an opinion, just do it respectfully.
We are all fans of a great team. I was saying just the other day during the Saturday Red Sox thread, that I wished I could be in the room with all of you watching the game. I thought that would have been a singular experience. Last night changed that for me a little bit.
Let’s treat each other like brothers/sisters. To disagree is fine, it’s part of what makes this MB so fun. Let’s keep it fun by doing it with some respect.
Raise your hand if you think in-season surgery is a great idea for GMJ...
The last time a group of us got together, in Vegas, a fist fight broke out!
Count your stars that you were NOT surrounded by hostile fellow-fans struggling to deal with the ups and downs of success.
Francisco Rodriguez: 191 career saves. 2 career Panthers, tied with Hector Carrasco.
really? wow...is this true?
Where right now the only thing shakier than Scot Shields is our defense...
Perhaps you are right.
At the very least, I shouldn’t have referred to it as “bitching.” I apologize.
~Till the Halo burns out...
thanks Zu
Dude, I respect your opinion as much or more than anyone’s on this blog.
I don’t mind if you disagree with me. I don’t always agree with you. But I think as two intelligent fans, we can always have positive discussions no matter the subject material.
I like that all of us see things slightly differently, because baseball is so awesome to talk about- we can break it down ad nauseum.
Anyway, I am all for letting bygones be bygones- and let’s root for the Angels through the rest of this exciting season as we analyze it to pieces!
And your right, Anderson is a much better fielder than I’m willing to give him credit for. Now if we can just work on the laziness… :)
Where right now the only thing shakier than Scot Shields is our defense...
As you say.
Again, I apologize for my comments. I can only say by way of explanation that it’s been a stressful week here IRL, but that’s no excuse for being rude.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Aaahhhhhhhhhhhh! Back in the swing of things...

Torii
Covering some ground out in the field
& starting off the 9th right to put himself in position as the winning run.
Chone had a nice AB there too.
soooo
Tex’s error sucked, but so did Shields’ and Frankie’s outings.
in the end, we still won, so all 3 of those go by the wayside.
my Panther goes to the Colonel, Jow Saunders. He deserved to win his 15th, and he pitched a GREAT game.
Torii was very Panther as well, but he gets vice in my book today.
Mike Scioscia: He provides to unlike method of your team member.
Frankie's outing didn't suck
he did what he was supposed to, got the bi groundout at the right time but it’s not his fault Uhaul couldn’t make the play
once again, they all sucked equally
i’m not pointing a finger at one of them, but at all 3.
and also, they all are forgiven with a win.
Mike Scioscia: He provides to unlike method of your team member.

The local news is not forgiving U-Haul for his error.
They started the coverage off with his error, then Hunter strolling across the plate and high five-ing the team.
The guys at the Sports Bar I was at said Kotch makes that play.
I think I agree, he doesn’t have to reach across his body like U-Haul.
by TheTypingFiend on Aug 4, 2008 11:09 PM PDT up reply actions
and if Kotch botched it
we’d all be pissed of a screaming at Reagins for not trading the bum for Teixeira.
relax kids. we still won the game.
considering it was his first home game, i cut the guy a break… he’s got a lot of pressure on him. they brought him in to boost the offense and NOT take anything away on defense. with that added to the fact that he’s trying to impress the home fans, that’s a ton of pressure to be under.
breathe… nobody was screaming about the trade when he was two feet to the right of a home run earlier.
nobody is screaming about his incredible OBP or his great play to end the first.
errors happen. get over it.

I am over it
We got the win.
And Howard would’ve had it if Mark’s big foot wasn’t in the way.
It was just the first moment where I’ve tangibly missed Kotch and his caveman face hair.

Kotch might not have left 5 men on base earlier in the game either.
And I dunno, Kotch has traditionally been pretty good in bases loaded situations.

i cant wait to see what the REV has to say bout this game

Blame for th BS
goes to both U Haul and Frankie. Tex for extending the game with the E and Frankie for not being able to pitch out of it. I am not that upset – but only cause we won, a back to back loss like this after the NY game would have me pissed the rest of the week.
The thing that upsets me is Hokie Joe losing an easy W when Lee won his 15th today…
Outfielders For Sale! This weeks special...GMJ - see Tony for details!
Has anyone noticed?
That G.A. has hit .425 with 10 rbi and 2 jacks in the last 10 games? He is the silent assassin of the lineup.
It's like the Texiera
error never happened. I didn’t see the game, and it’s not on any highlight reel or even mentioned in recaps (that I see).
Anyone help me out? What was the game situation at the time?
Nevvvvvvvvver mind......
Found it on the OC Register.
Shame, that. He’s a gold glove 1st baseman….I don’t think it’ll become a pattern.
It shouldn't
He got unlucky when the ball knocked off his foot after going cleanly under his glove.
If the ball had gone through, Howard fields the ball and likely throws the runner out.
Similar to the Figgins-Aybar play earlier in the game, just without the throw all the way across the diamond.

one last thing
Figgy was on the good end of a couple of VERY close calls in that last walk. To me, it looked like Sherrill struck him out twice.
I’m gonna keep that in mind next time one of our guys gets pinched by the ump.
Along with the memory that other closers blow saves, too.
