Photo of the day.

Okay, it has nothing to do with baseball, or even sports for that matter, but I thought this was hilarious.

I was banned from posting in a thread for posting direct Joe Buck during a game...

Though actual direct quotes, they were interpreted as suggestive by Cupie.

Kind of rubbed me the wrong way considering all the other posts I see and read on this site.

i was doing that too

i’ll be up front about it.

maybe you were doing it too much?

This thread is a good example...

If I get banned for posting direct Joe Buck quotes as he was saying them during a game… then how can this thread exist with all it’s obvious and deliberate innuendos?

I’m big on applying rules evenly and I get bent when I’m singled out.

Definitely rubbed me the wrong way… (please don’t ban me for saying that, I didn’t mean it as an innuendo.)

by Red on Aug 5, 2008 10:17 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

NO ban here,just an explanation

Look, if images like this were posted here every day, I would get scolding on it.

RED, on that thread a few weeks back, you were posting goofy innuendo every few minutes. This blog does not exist to accomodate a non-stop Beavis and Butthead audition.

And when you were asked to cool it down, you went all defense attorney on us and that is absolutely the wrongest thing to do.

But it is not the end of the world, you were not and are not banned.

Once in a while = cool and funny
A lot, often and whiny when called on it = not cool, not funny.

Rev...

Truly don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but…

My “goofy innuendo” postings in that thread were only direct Joe Buck quotes as he was saying them on the live broadcast… THAT WAS IT.

Whether funny or not, frequent or infrequent in someone’s opinion… amongst all the stuff being posted, I was singled out by Cupie and banned in that thread.

I am definitely being whiny about it, I’ll admit to that. Considering all the stuff that gets posted on HH on a daily basis without bans or warnings issued… my posts were as clean as Joe Buck’s mouth.

I WAS singled out by the “Beavis and Butthead police” apparently, and it rubs me the wrong way.

Ok… the horse is way past dead… I’ll move on with my life now, albeit, a little less of a man than I was before.

Well, since the horse has been resurrected...

Red, I gotta give my two cents. I know that this sticks in your craw something fierce. I expected Rev or cupie to explain things to your satisfaction but, since they have not, maybe I can.

You are correct in stating that you were posting direct Joe Buck quotes. To claim that is the only thing you were doing is rather disingenuous. Of course you were posting those quotes that were sexual innuendo. That was the whole joke behind your running gag. Things went along fine for a while, and it was funny, too, until the game got very tedious. Then, the rest of us started following your lead and posting innuendos, mostly having nothing to do with Joe Buck’s broadcast. At 9:56PM cupie politely asked us all to stop. You acknowledged that request, so you knew he was having a problem. We did not stop the innuendos.

At 9:59 I posted another innuendo, in a sub-thread full of them. These were probably too close to cupie’s initial request in order for us to catch the warning while we were madly spiraling out of control. Whatever. My post was totally accurate and completely factual. I did happen to work for that particular computer company in my past, and I do have the business cards to prove it. And my post was on topic, in direct reply to a prior innuendo post about a certain Yankee pitcher. No matter. It was innuendo and we had been asked to stop innuendo. Cupie replied to my post at 10:11PM with his second warning to all of us. This post was a direct warning.

Then, at 10:19PM, you posted this. This was NOT a Joe Buck quote. This was NOT innuendo. This was clearly at, or over, the line as seen in howiestheman’s response. Cupie responded one minute later advising you to “tone it down”. And, you certainly were aware of this final warning because you copied his post out on the main level of the ongoing thread at 10:23PM. Looking the thread just now, I see nobody else posting any innuendo after 10:23PM. Apparently, almost all of us got the message. We still used a lot of foul language, but we got the point of the warning.

But still, at 10:31PM, you did yet one more Joe Buck innuendo post. You had decided to continue. How many other innuendo posts you would have submitted beyond cupie’s final warning we shall never know. One turned out to be enough.

You did not get back into the thread until after the game, at 10:50PM, wondering what happened and why you got blocked.

From my take on that night, by the time you made your last Joe Buck post, you knew that cupie wanted all innuendos to stop, you knew that you were posting innuendos, you knew that cupie had issued multiple warnings against innuendos, you knew that cupie has asked you multiple times to stop, and you went forward anyway.

Sorry, friend, but the temp block on your posting is understandable to me. Whether I agree with it is not an issue, since this is not my house. But I do believe that I know why.
