Shane Loux - Back in the Game
Shane Loux was released by the Mariners in spring 2007 and garnering no interest from any other teams, he figured his future in professional baseball was through.
Loux filled his time in Arizona coaching high school baseball and youth teams, and pitched in a beer league game.
A year ago he was catching for a pitching prospect at an indoor facility in Gilbert, a suburb of Phoenix. Loux traded places with the prospect to throw a few pitches which caught the attention of the facility owner, Rich Barker, who had realized he had just seen "something special."
Barker asked Loux if he could refer him to an Angels scout and soon after a successful tryout with the Angels, Shane was back in major league baseball. Luck, fate, and being in the right place at the right time has given Shane Loux a second chance at fulfilling his dream of playing the game he thought had slipped away from him.
