Sorry for the 50 questions...
It is awesome that the guy (Zu) that does all of the amazing posts on Angel minor league players is based in…Iowa!!!
And was born in Oklahoma of all places.
Growing up, I got used to having to follow the team in the sports pages of the local paper, and got pretty good at forming opinions on guys based just on what I saw them do everyday in the box scores.
With the internet, doing it for multiple teams isn’t that hard, and checking stats first thing every morning got to be such a habit, it was pretty easy to make the jump to doing it online.
In the winter I’m a wreck though. No scores to look at. :-P

Walked into a baseball card shop at 6 years old.
Saw the Angels team deck, with Wally Joyner as the top card. I was already well on my way to becoming a skinny tall kid, and Joyner had decent stats, and I thought: “When I’m a big-leaguer, that’s what I’m going to look like.” I bought the deck, and was an Angel fan from that day forward.
Tim Salmon getting ROTY is what really hooked me as an Angels fan though. From that day since, he’s been my favorite player.

Well I go to lots of away games.
Chisox, Royals, Twins are all within range. And I’ve been going to ST for spring break the last few years.

Sat right behind Tim.
He had three hits with a homer that game, and caught all three outs in the first inning. They were playing the M’s and won.
One of the fans in the section threw a tennis ball at J Buhner.
But being an away fan hasn’t been all bad. I managed to be at the game where Edmonds made “the Catch” after all, at Koffman Stadium.

That’s why the Cedar Rapids review says I have occasionally watched these players in person.
It’s a good two-and a half hour drive though, so not very often.
