Shea Hillenbrandt still on the books for 2008

Does anyone know which players will be coming off the books for 2009 and how much freed up money the team will have to be able to pursue future players??

Here is a salary overview for 2008:

99 bottles of beer on the wall 99 bottles of beer. I want the halos to atleast go to the world series. I love this team and am very excited to see them in the playoffs with a lineup that has pop for the first time since 2002.

99 more bottles of beer on the wall...

if they go to the WS and LOSE to a NL team…I will puke!

Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?

Plus, I don't think that is the correct link...

those salaries look like last year’s…2007, not 2008

Definitely last seasons

Bartolo Colon
Hector Carrasco
Tommy Murphy
Dallas MacPherson
Jose Molina

The organization parted ways with all of these characters at the end of last season.

how silly does dropping d-mac look now

healthy all year, leading triple A in power numbers, and now mashing for florida marlins.

all while we need a third basemen in kendrick/aybar/figgins’ injuries

Mashing?

he’s all of 2-7 on the season. Obviously, the Fish didn’t think he was good enough to help them this year notwithstanding the fact that they were in the thick of the wild card race well into August.

We have better options

Salt Lake is a good hitter’s park, but Albuquerque is off the charts.

D-Mac, 27 years old, hits 275/379/618. Not bad, but in the same league:

B-Wood hits 296/375/595 and Sean-Rod hits 306/397/645, and they are only 23.

Plus Mcpherson strikes out so much he makes Wood look like Casey Kotchman.

Much better...

boy does that emphasize how much we OVERPAID for GMJ Jr…and they misspelled Judy Garland’s name as Jon…whassup widdat?

Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?

2004 Lineup Had Pop Too

but they got shanked in the ALDS and now nobody even remembers them … and that could happen just as easily to this squad with an early postseason mis-step or two.

that was with jose

now we dumped her and we got the pussycats

Exceeding expectations is less a matter of luck than possession of certain assets.

granted Jose Guillen wasn't part of that lineup

having been suspended…

and wasn’t Glaus out for the season by then too?

Quinlan hit like .344, but then went down with injuries too before the playoffs.

You could have seen that implosion coming.

Same thing could happen with this team too. Got to hit in the playoffs.

Howie Kendrick, the Eric Davis of 2nd basemen...great when he's on the field, IF he's on the field...

GA was hurt as well.

So was AK. That team in the playoffs wasn;t the one that won the division.

Pitchers are going to cost a lot soon

WOW, those were good deals for the likes John Lackey, Morales, etc. Certainly the fact that 3 starters, santana, saunders and weaver make less than $2 mill combined is a huge factor coming into this offseason. Needless to say, whether at the end of 08 or 09, these 3 pitchers and Lackey all will likely have substantial pay raises either thru Arb or a new contract. Lackey probably will sign here or somewhere for a Barry Zito-like contract. Obviously these are big concerns when considering GA, U-haul, Frankie, Vlad, etc. Something has to give. Arte doesn’t seem excited about raising his salary figures past the current 120 mil mark. It will be an interesting off-season to say the least. This year is a must win year.

I love LAC.
